Dining at this Chinese restaurant inside Crown Sydney was a truly memorable experience. The elegant setting and sophisticated ambiance perfectly complemented the exceptional quality of the food and service. We ordered the seasonal autumn crab, which was the highlight of the evening. The crab was incredibly fresh, sweet, and generously portioned, with flavours that beautifully captured the essence of the season. Every bite was rich and satisfying, showcasing expert preparation and attention to detail. The stir-fried Wagyu beef was equally impressive. Tender and succulent, the beef was cooked to perfection and paired with a well-balanced sauce that enhanced its natural richness without overpowering it. Attentive and friendly staff provided seamless service throughout the meal, adding to the overall luxurious dining experience. With its refined atmosphere and outstanding cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking premium Chinese dining in Sydney. Highly recommended for special occasions or an indulgent night out.

Worst food compared to the name and reputation of the restaurant. We had very high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We had dinner at Golden Century Crown Hotel with a group of 11 people (8 adults and 3 children). It was meant to be a very special night, as our family was visiting from overseas and this was their last day in Australia. Sadly, it turned into the worst dining experience of the trip. Despite having 11 people, we were not given a private room or a Chinese round table, which made sharing food very difficult. Instead, we were seated at a long table. The staff placed the dishes in the middle and walked away, leaving us to stand up, walk over with our plates, and serve ourselves. It became so uncomfortable that I had to call the manager to help us arrange the food so we could share it more easily. This should never have been necessary. We also specifically asked for all dishes to be served together, but the food arrived very late and one dish at a time. With 11 people, we were sharing one plate while waiting for the next dish. We were starving. We started with a dozen oysters ($78), which were fresh. After finishing the lobster, no one came to clear or change our plates until we repeatedly asked. The only time the lady responded quickly was when it was time to clear the plates after we finished eating. We ordered a 3kg lobster for $1,200. While it was fresh, it was absolutely not worth the price and no different from lobster at local Chinese restaurants that cost much less. Other dishes included live pippies (very small portions. It was $168!!!), crispy chicken (extremely dry), garlic prawns(salty), salt and pepper squid (soggy), 3 fried rice (each fried rice was $38), fish, steamed rice (it was smelly and definitely rice from yesterday) and more. Overall, the food quality was well below expectations. The bill came to $2,250, plus a 10% service charge ($225) because we were more than nine people! We were told this was hotel policy, but given the poor service and disappointing food, the extra charge felt completely unjustified. For a restaurant with such a big name, this was the worst food and service we experienced. What should have been a memorable farewell dinner for our family became stressful and upsetting. We would not return and cannot recommend this place. Please please do not go this restaurant. It really is upsetting.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment we walked in, everything was faultless. The service staff were very attentive and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable. The food was superb, perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The live seafood tank selection is extensive, with plenty to choose from, which really highlights the freshness on offer. Highly recommended.

Came here with high expectations - not only because of Golden Century’s long-standing reputation, but also its prime location. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We ordered several yum cha dishes and some main dishes. Presentation-wise, there was very little effort. In terms of flavour, the Cantonese sponge cake stood out as the best dish (8/10). The egg tarts and siu mai were acceptable, while the radish cake was average. The shrimp dumplings were particularly disappointing - the skin was thick, sticky, mushy, and broken (I discreetly hid the hole in the photo). They tasted overcooked or as though they had been left in the steamer to keep warm for far too long. The same issue applied to the rice rolls, and the deep-fried Chinese donut inside was soggy rather than crisp. Service further detracted from the experience. It was among the coldest service I’ve encountered in Australia in years. Some staff appeared disengaged and unhappy. We had to call the waitress multiple times to place our order and to have our tea refilled. When clearing the table, food was dropped onto the surface without any apology, and it was never cleaned up - even though we were still dining. Overall, this visit fell well short of expectations.

We had a wonderful dinner at Golden Century last night to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday, and it was a truly special family evening. This was our first time having dinner here after previously enjoying yum cha, and we were very impressed. The location at Crown Sydney in Barangaroo is unbeatable, and the restaurant provides a beautiful setting for a special celebration. A special thank you to Andy, who helped us choose and order the dishes for our group of nine. His recommendations and service were excellent. We especially enjoyed the steamed fish, lobster and pipis — everything was delicious. We also appreciated that the kitchen was able to accommodate our request for less oil, sugar and salt. The service throughout the evening was outstanding. Andy and all the staff who looked after our table were friendly, polite and attentive. A particularly lovely touch was the complimentary soft Chinese bun made in the shape of a longevity peach (寿桃), symbolising longevity and good wishes for health. It was such a thoughtful gesture for my mum’s 80th birthday, and she was absolutely delighted. Yes, it is a premium dining experience, but given the exceptional location, quality of the food, beautiful surroundings and excellent service, we felt it was well worth it for such a special occasion. Most importantly, my mum had a wonderful time, and our whole family really enjoyed the evening. Thank you to Andy and the entire team for helping make her 80th birthday celebration so memorable. We would happily return.
