Wanted a light lunch. Headed to Macquarie Centre today. Haven't been to this place in a long while. The menu was quite extensive. The time of when the dishes would be available was listed at the top of the menu. I ordered the Steamed Rice Noodles with trio sauce and fried chicken wings. The sauces for rice noodles were tasty and blended well. The rice noodles (cheong fun) were smooth and good. Unfortunately, the fried chicken wings were ordinary and nothing spectacular. The Coffee Hong Kong Style was below average to me.
Extremely disappointed with my experience today. I ordered a $30 half chicken takeaway around lunchtime. When I got home, I immediately noticed a sour smell. The chicken was clearly not fresh and had already gone bad, making it completely inedible. Not only did I waste $30, but I also wasted my time driving there and back. I don’t know whether takeaway customers are treated differently, but based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone ordering takeaway check their food before leaving. Serving spoiled food is unacceptable. I won’t be returning and cannot recommend this place.
Food can be a bit slow. Average quality. My chicken rice had so little ginger oil I had to ask for extra. The chicken was chewy. 2.5pp holiday surcharge cap is reasonable.
Food was not bad the first time around when we tried this place out for dinner. But heaps of msg in the food. Second time around during lunch the food was greasy & pork chop overcooked. Service is ok & price is alright.
COCKROACH Found on Our Table During Afternoon Tea I was having afternoon tea and halfway through the meal, a COCKROACH suddenly crawled onto the table. I’m not sure where it came from, but it appeared right where we were eating. I called a waiter and he caught the cockroach, but after that he only asked if we had finished and then cleared everything away. I hadn’t even touched my drink, but after seeing the cockroach, I didn’t feel comfortable drinking it. When I spoke to the cashier, I explained that there had been a cockroach and I couldn’t drink it, but they still charged the full price and didn’t offer even a basic refund for the drink. The hygiene here is concerning, especially since the cockroach appeared directly on the table where the food was served. Re: Owner I understand that in a shopping centre a cockroach may come from outside, but in this case it was ON MY TABLE, right next to my food and drink, which is very concerning. What was also disappointing was that no staff member said sorry about the cockroach incident. When I explained that I had not even started my drink and no longer felt comfortable drinking it after seeing a cockroach on the table, it felt like my concern was dismissed as if I was being difficult. I was still charged in full, and there was no apology, no offer to remake the drink instead.
