Terrible Chinese food. We had the “Chef’s special” squid which tasted like it’d be frozen-thawed-refrozen-fried. Also had the chicken wings which were battered like pluto pups. Honestly the best part of our meal was the white rice and even that tasted old. All that for around $50.. Bar staff could also do with some tips on service. They often just chat amongst each other when serving without engagement. It’s a shame because the place otherwise has a community atmosphere and some decent events and is a local to many. I hope this helps improve it!

I will never eat here again. Absolutely disgusting food and I love Chinese food. Tasteless and watered down with no flavour and did not even taste like real meat. Please avoid if you like Asian cuisine, many better places and RSLs. We tried to force the food down but it was so bad we had left alot behind and ended up feeling sick. If I could rate less than 1, I would. Avoid!!!

Lucky Magpies is a guilty pleasure! Whenever I come back to Oz, I have to quell my Western Chinese craving and what’s better than a nearby club to facilitate this need! I’ve been twice in 2 weeks since I’ve been back Their ultimate dish, and my favourite, is the Mongolian lamb. A decent-sized portion that’ll take 2 to finish, which utilises the velvetising method to ensure tender tasty meat. We usually round things out with either honey king prawns, sweet and sour pork, or beef in black bean sauce. Of course there’s always fried rice on the size to soak up those sensational sauces. Despite the hard-working kitchen there can sometimes be a wait if you choose a Friday, Saturday or Sunday when it’s exceedingly busy. Of course, if you happen to come on a week night you might have the places to yourself. Service is super, staff are friendly, and food is hot and fresh. Will visit again and again and again…

Pictured: Beef brisket noodle soup ($14), combination long noodle soup (+ short option extra, $14 + $6), pan fried pork buns ($8) Solid Chinese food at a reasonable price inside the local Rugby club. The noodle soups were flavoursome and quite filling. Pork buns were quite large, and the filling was very nice and authentic. Would come back again.

Poor food quality and taste. Overpriced. Sorry, I can't recommend it to anyone. Only good part is the good ambience and dining area.
