We visited New Shanghai Night in Ashfield and enjoyed the lively ambience of the newly renovated space. The crab and pork xiao long bao were juicy and flavourful, with a rich broth. Service was friendly and attentive — staff kindly provided free chinese tea, fresh chopped chillies and ginger on request, which we appreciated. The fried pork dumplings and steamed prawn dumplings had generous fillings, though the skins were slightly thicker than our preference. Overall, a pleasant dining experience and a good value for money spot for dumplings in Ashfield.
Best place ever! I’ve been coming here for 25 years I think, and more so in the last 15 years. Love this place! I love the S&P tofu, the lovingly handmade dumplings, the free tea, the wait staff, the service. The chef is an absolute legend. She’s seen me go through various dietary wants/likes/dislikes, and has accommodated me so well! I don’t want to tell you all how good this is, because I don’t want to share the love too much. I enjoy walking in there like a boss, but there are times I have to queue. Lol. Careful, there’s 3 restaurants together, all with similar names, and over the years, meeting up with people at the RIGHT one, THIS one, has proved a little tricky. This is definitely the place.

Horrible dinner experience last month. I would say that the quality of food was very poor and not meet minimum standards of quality. I ordered three cup chicken and pan fried buns. Three cup chicken was unexpectedly fried and overcooked, and bottom of pan fried buns were overcooked too
Great food, friendly service, awesome value for money and clean dining area! What else could you ask for? The dumplings were freshly prepared and tasted great! The dining area was well spaced out unlike some of the other restaurants in this strip. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!
