A few years back this used to be fantastic and over the years it seems like it dropped in quality and quantity. Several competitors have popped up and have raised the bar, these guys need to up the game to stay in the top 10% Got this brisket box for $32 and I was a bit disappointed, yes prices have gone up etc. But it felt like it missed the mark when it came to quantity and quality. Hopefully it’s just a one off, would love to come back during the weekend or busy period to taste for what I assumed would be better.

Blackbear barbecue Blacktown the original status quo of the American bbq restaurants known as black bear. I’ve been visiting Black Bear barbecue on and off for many years. Coming back for the delicious south-west flavours of America right in Blacktown. However, this time was a little different. I visited last Thursday and ordered a hungry bear box. In much anticipation for the classic flavours and quality that I used to get.. however this time I found the brisket a little tough to the fact that I couldn’t cut it with the cutlery provided the hot link wasn’t scored and wasn’t able to sliced again with the cardboard knife and fork, The pork was nice, but also chewy, the flavour of the brisket was delicious however it was pretty tough, Salad was fresh and tasty Staff where friendly and helpful, Barbecue sauce was delicious couldn’t fault it. Hard to get parking as in a busy industrial area with only street parking so pick your times. Still Would recommend,

The brisket is nice, juicy and flavourful. The fat is nicely rendered and adds a lot of flavour. The lean part of the brisket nice and flakes off. The jalapeno cheese sausage has good flavour and is juicy. The chips are crispy and well seasoned. It is a box expensive but I guess that's to be expected for bbq.

We came all the way from the UK to have a fantastic lunch at Black Bear and my goodness did they deliver! Delicious food, great vibe and lovely staff. Will absolutely put this on our list every time we are visiting Australia now. Thanks to the awesome team for having us.

I really wanted to love this place but the food came out lukewarm at best if not verging on cold even though we arrived 10 mins after open, the sides to the ribs and pork belly boxes were honestly sad; a small portion of coleslaw with barely any dressing, potato chips with no flavour. The mac and cheese was also pretty much cold and barely any sauce along with cold shredded cheese on top? I did enjoy the ribs but wouldn't purchase again. Also the onion rings were yum but not hot either 🥲
