Amazing cafe - feels so homely, fresh, great flavours, super high quality ingredients and really lovely staff. In a time where so many brunch spots are over complicated and feel very same-same, it was so refreshing to go somewhere so simple yet delicious. Perched at the sunny window seat with a giant sandwich is how I’d like to spend every weekend going forward. Will be back 🫶

If you’re near Balmain then you really should drop in to Ciao Thyme. The food is imaginative, delicious and all freshly made. There buffet of salads and other goodies is also extensive. On our last visit it was a humid morning so I started with their Jezuz Gold Tincture (un-drenched fermented probiotic honey infused with Turmeric, chilli, fresh ginger, cardamom, black pepper and orange!). My brunch was the Egyptian (poached eggs, tahini, feta, dukka, avocado on sourdough) – the avocado was freshly made, not out of the fridge from the day before. Then my decaf long black to (iced) to finish. It is worth going there for the coffee alone! The staff and wonderful, bright, happy and helpful. As you can gather, I highly recommend this café.

The best Philly cheesesteak this side of Hoboken and the grandest Reuben sandwich in the southern hemisphere. And I ordered the gluten-free bread which is marvellous.

Ciao Thyme is incredible. Even the simplest things they make are extraordinary. The Ruben is easily the best I’ve ever had. Their homemade kombucha is on another level, and the pies are all delicious. I especially loved the plum pie with lemon ginger crème—the flavor combination is perfect. Everything here is made with so much care. Highly recommend!

It's hard to know where to begin. I saw on social media this place in Balmain that does a Philly Cheese Steak that is next level and over $30 for one sandwich.... I think in this kind of economy it takes big balls to think you can charge that kind of money for a sandwich.... actually in any kind of economy that's a crazy price point for a sandwich.... now having said that if you don't come down here and try it you are doing yourself an injustice. I've had Philly cheese steaks everywhere including Philadelphia and this is not a Philly Cheese Steak this is above next level next level. I could talk about it for an hour and still not really get across how good it was from the little cos lettuce Cup with like a chicken Hazel nut Waldorf through to the most insane soft fluffy crunchy bread but it wouldn't do it justice. Having been in the industry all my life and owning many successful cafes walking into this place you just feel the love in everything they do. Never do you see this kind of attention to chaotic detail anymore and it looks like they just cook whatever they want and sell it on the day and if you don't want to spend $30 on a sandwich or even 18 dollars on a bacon and egg roll I guess you could save a couple of dollars and have something elsewhere that just wouldn't compare but I love the fact that they do what they do they do it well and they only Target the customers that can appreciate such quality and dedication. The only criticism I have would be the bottled barbecue sauce they serve on the side is just completely unneeded and anybody who put barbecue sauce on that sandwich would need help😎 and also the flat white was very fluffy but that's just a little bit of tweaking on technique. Anybody with a struggling Cafe and there are plenty of them these days...needs to come here and see how it's done. I will be back to try the rest of everything. A true place where passion and creativity meet produce
