This time I’ve tried the chicken salad to-go and it was great, but I am absolutely in love with their falafel sandwich. It’s honestly one of the best I’ve had, fresh, flavour-packed, perfectly cooked, and so satisfying. Pair that with excellent coffee and it’s a winning combo every time.
The place looks really good, however we got it for takeaway. It looks like it’s a one off. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt. The bacon and egg, egg wasn’t cooked. The chicken salad consisted of rocket chicken and sauce, I thought I’d ordered more, 23 bucks seemed expensive. I’ll probably try this place again but not for takeaway.
Popped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised on how nice the cafe was. It isn’t huge and there is a large communal table if you don’t get a table by yourself. The prices are on the higher side, but the size of the sandwiches are large, almost enough to share or take half home to have later. We had the chicken katsu sandwich which was full of flavour, the cumin roasted lamb which was a hit, fries as a side and as they serve breakfast later in the day, we also had porridge. They have gluten free bread as an alternative if needed. They also bake freshly croissants and rolls.
John Montagu is a true gem , stylish, welcoming, and infused with a warm, family friendly atmosphere. The diversity of the staff adds to the vibrant charm, and two standout personalities made our visit unforgettable Arthur, with his flamboyant flair, magnetic energy, and impeccable customer service, and Rocky, the charismatic owner whose wisdom and warmth make every guest feel instantly at home. The menu offers excellent value, with a Mediterranean twist that shines through in every bite. Personal favourites include the richly flavoured beef cheek sandwich, the crispy and satisfying falafel sandwich, and the refreshing yoghurt bowl , all beautifully crafted and satisfying. As for the coffee? Easily one of the best brews in Sydney. The café itself is a beautiful, cosy space with convenient parking, making it a perfect go to spot. Highly recommend this delightful spot for anyone seeking great food, coffee, and genuine hospitality. Thank you ☺️
Easily one of the best brunch/lunch spots I’ve been to. The owner, Asmita, is so lovely and warm, and left me a little complementary treat each time I came- because of course, I had to come back. The food and coffee is delightful, and the calm energy of the place means it feels easy to while away an afternoon here reading and writing. Thank you for your hospitality; it was a pleasure coming here.
