This is for Steamup Cantonese Restaurant Jusco Branch, down an alley arcade as you make your way to Taste of Shunde. Their parent business is also nearby in Eastwood. Food offerings are decent, clean and healthy fare. Kitchen was not coping with the morning crowd despite being at 1/3 dining capacity. Likely to be early teething issues. I ordered hand shredded free range chook, a scallion chook and mince pork salt fish claypot rice. Said rice was finished in claypot but not cooked in. You still get the crispy base. Overall 4 of 5 stars. Ambience is lacking but this speaks of diners, not establishment. I will be back to try the $60 steamed free range chook thingy at some point as I thought this wasn't a breakfast thing but it is.

The staff here are friendly and helpful, the food is delicious, straight up the best clay pot we’ve ever had, it’s fluffy rice and crispy rice and perfectly cooked pork ribs (or plenty of other flavours.) We also have tried the pak choy inner leaves & pork fat, and had a couple of their daily soups, everything’s been great. Price is reasonable too. Our new favourite place for clay pot!

Hidden gem in Eastwood! Tucked away in an alley, this place is worth every penny. Their braised beef cheong fun (rice noodles) is bursting with flavor, and the cheong fun itself is paper-thin yet perfectly chewy. The clay pot rice is the best I've experienced in Sydney, with perfectly cooked rice and a crispy bottom. The cherry on top is that it’s run by a charming father-daughter duo. I’ll definitely be back!

2026 edit: my mum got vegetarian steamed rice noodle rolls to take away last time not realising it was from this place as they had moved. It had enoki mushrooms and lettuce or wombok (?? I forgot) and it was good. This time she ordered it again and it only has lettuce in it. I guess they're still inconsistent. What a rip off. The congee was not edible. The plain congee with the gingko nuts was bitter! Edit: have dropped the ratings because they're very inconsistent. We barely got any brisket this time, but we got large chunks of cartliage, and there was too much water in the dish from oversteaming. I think the menu is just too big and they should focus on what they're good at. The chef was cranky and rude. I think he didn't have any help there on that day. He yelled at my mum because she asked to have a cup rinsed. Then, proceeded to rant about it to the other customers there. He was going on about how they don't use detergent to wash the cups/dishes? The brisket cheung fun was great the first time! Mix it all up for even sauce distribution. It's a big serving! Absolutely worth it. The clay pot i got wasn't not good. The chef saw and said he didn't steam it long enough. However the pork was a bit too dry/overdone. My parents got a soup and fried rice to take away and it was too oily and salty.
