When we came, they were so busy and I think hey were under staffs. We were happily queue for 25-30 minutes and some people just go right in to cut out our line. My sister was talking to the Chinese lady manager and tell her that people are still waiting outside and that table shouldn’t have to that person. Cut long story short, we got our table and the lady been escorted outside and ask to queue, which is fair. Then on dinning table also they were big group our people celebrating Chinese new year, and it was so noisy, because they were slightly drunk and talk so loudly between friends on those table. Food was excellent, I love their shantung chicken, most probably the best I had by far. Stir fried black pepper beef with broccoli also good, beef just had enough charred on the outside and still juicy inside, and sauce just spot on. Deep fried prawn with egg yolk battered also a crowd pleaser. Fried rice came look so pale just like steamed rice in a glance, however the fragrance from sesame oil intrigues me to tried and rice was quite tasty with generous amount of ham. Over all food was solid!
This has been my favourite chinese food place in Sydney. Service is good since I've always been going here for the past 3 years since I've worked here in Sydney. I've read on other reviews, saying that servers were rude but I disagree with it, yes there are some servers who were not fluent in english but they can still manage to get the order or use the menu to point which food you want to order BUT definitely not rude. Auntie (the lady owner) on the other hand usually gets the order as well when she's not busy and she speaks english fluently. Now about the food, for me prices are affordable because of the huge amount of serving per order. Taste is superb. That's why this has been my favourite chinese food place. My top 2 picks would be the sweet and sour pork and beef wonton noodle soup. Other food that I've tried which are great would be salted egg shrimp, salt and pepper calamari, shantung chicken, laksa soup, special fried rice, and beef chow mien.
Good Chinese food at reasonable prices. We really enjoyed the sweet and sour pork and xo sauce pipis. The spice level of the xo sauce was just right. The fried chicken noodles were also nice and crunchy. It can get loud inside when it’s busy but overall it was a pleasant experience and we’d come back again
I rarely write food reviews, but this experience was too disappointing to ignore. I used to visit the Hurstville location and always had a good experience. This time, however, I ordered takeaway from Burwood, and the quality was very poor. I ordered the eggplant with minced pork and salted fish, and tofu with diced chicken. Both dishes looked nothing like authentic Cantonese food, despite the pictures on the app making them appear authentic. The food was soaked in oil, lacked flavor, and contained very little meat, roughly 5% meat and 95% eggplant or tofu. Perhaps these dishes aren’t the chef’s specialties, but after this experience I won’t be ordering from or visiting this location again.
Recently reopened as Canton Story. Food is alright. Good old fashion Cantonese food with Cantonese ladies taking your order. $17.80 for a chicken laksa.
