China Fusion in Marrickville did not disappoint. We went as a family and genuinely loved every dish we ordered. Standouts for me were the Crispy Eggplant – sweet, sticky and addictive – and the Mala Fried Chicken with that proper chilli heat. We also had the braised beef noodles, xiao long bao, pork & chive dumplings, wontons in chilli oil, salt & pepper tofu and a duck roll. Plenty of variety and strong flavours across the board. Portions were generous too – we ate well and still had leftovers for the next day. A solid spot if you’re after flavour-packed Chinese dishes in Marrickville.
A hidden gem in Marrickville! They’ve got a range of unique dishes I’ve never seen at other places like the deep fried eggplant dessert- they’re the best, tasted like a donut but with much softer filling. The fried rice here was flavourful and the barramundi fillet soup was amazing. They’ve even got stir fried eggplant with potato and green pepper with was only $1- great serving portion and definitely worth paying this price! The owner and staff here are super nice and attentive. Will be back
My first time at China Fusion at Marrickville Metro. It is a good spot for a family meal. The place isn’t too big, with just about 10 tables, but the food’s got some good flavors. The $1 specials are great value, especially the Cumin Pork Knuckle and Stir Fry Potato, Eggplant & Green Pepper. The pork knuckle is cut into pieces, well-seasoned, and has a nice kick to it. The Shrimp Toast is crispy and packed with filling, really satisfying, must try!!! The Crispy deep fried Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish comes out as a whole fish, deboned, with a tangy sauce. Love it! The Jade Fried Rice with Seafood has a nice mix of ingredients like prawns and pine nuts, which gives it a bit of an unique twist. Overall, very nice experience, friendly service and delicious food. Will definitely come back to try more dishes!
Amazing food! The eggplants and dumplings were superb. My sis in law and husband don’t eat eggplants or coriander.. but they ate it all!! Thank you for the great service Cynthia! We had an amazing 13 dishes between the 4 of us in the short time..
I love Chinese food but I unconsciously avoided Chinese restaurant altogether anywhere in Australia in the past 20 odd years. Because in my experience, 9 out of 10 I will be disappointed. Eg this time I can’t help myself questioning WHAT is this China Fusion join had been FUSION with? Cucumber Salad - bland! Wonton in Spicy Sauce - tasteless & just warm (maybe microwave reheated), sauce not spicy at all, thick & chewy skin (likely was cooked a few hours ago). Xiao Long Bao - if Ding Tai Fung is the benchmark, this should be ranked disqualified. Broth inside bun is bland & just warm (maybe microwave reheated), thick & chewy skin (likely was cooked a few hours ago). Shanghai Stir Fry Noodles - worst dish of today! Tasteless, & just warm (maybe microwave reheated). Noodles have NOT been stir fried completely therefore there’re several lumps of noodles stuck together forming “noodles cakes” as photo. As a big eater I usually finish everything as long as they’re still “eatable”. Rarely, I have leftover I can’t finish as photo this time. Hot & Sour Soup - turns out this is the best dish among the 5 I’ve ordered today (which all are common basic dishes). Partly because it is the warmest dish (please note I didn’t say boiling hot), still bland, NOT hot NOT sour (but unlike the other place I’ve been to… thank God it is not sweet!) One good thing is they provide soya sauce, vinegar & chili oil on the table (as photo), so in theory customer could use them to overcome the tasteless issue. The problem is, the chili oil is tasteless as well !!! Need not to say, I wouldn’t recommend this place & highly unlikely that I would give it a 2nd trial, simply because I have better use of my time & money.
