I recently discovered CHUNGKING in Burwood, and it has quickly become one of my favourite spots for malatang. The ingredient selection is exceptionally extensive, with a wide variety of fresh options that are difficult to find at other malatang restaurants. Their selection includes vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, various meats, seafood (including lobster tail), dumplings, spicy duck gizzards, pork kidney, pork brain, beef tendon, bamboo shoots, and much more. Whatever you're looking for, there's a good chance they'll have it. A standout feature is the complimentary self-serve prune juice and brown sugar ice jelly, which make a refreshing finish after a hot and spicy meal. On this visit, we chose the Chef's Chilli and Bone Broth soup bases, and both were rich, flavourful, and well-balanced. I also highly recommend adding the sesame sauce, as it elevates the overall flavour of the dish. If you're looking for a malatang restaurant with an outstanding ingredient selection, delicious soup bases, and thoughtful extras, CHUNGKING is definitely worth a visit.

I come here all the time, and it’s always very filling. I recommend the chef’s chilli soup base, though the flavour used to be better cause it was stronger. Now the soup base tastes a bit watered down but still tastes okay. The milk tea also tastes amazing whilst being affordable. Please never close down!

If you’re a mala tang lover, Chungking Burwood is definitely worth a visit! The best part is the huge selection of fresh ingredients, so you can build your bowl exactly the way you like it. Whether you’re craving a comforting soup or a flavour-packed dry mix, both options are delicious. What really stood out were the little extras—they offer free-flow house-made plum juice and a complimentary brown sugar grass jelly dessert, which was such a nice touch and the perfect way to finish the meal. The ingredients were fresh, there were plenty of choices, and the whole dining experience was enjoyable. If you can’t decide between soup and dry mix… do yourself a favour and get both! I’ll definitely be back. 🍜🌶️

Solid place for Malatang in Burwood. There was many ingredients and was fresh. Service was very quick and efficient. Their condiments selection was small however it really complimented the food. Had their Guangxi Luosifen (pork broth base). It was flavourful and porky.

Condiments were good, tomato soup was flavourful. Good variety of selections. The fortune bag was interesting with fish paste with chestnut. Meat was abit overcooked. Overall would go back.
