The Northeastern dishes at Jilin Renjia are quite authentic and true to traditional flavours, without being overly modified. You can really taste that familiar, genuine Northeast style. The sweet and sour pork (Guo Bao Rou) was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the portions were generous. Overall, it offers good value for money and is suitable for family gatherings or meals with friends. The service was friendly as well. I would definitely come back again.
This place is packed, we arrived at 5pm for dinner and it’s already full house. The food is in big portion but found them very salty and too strong in taste, general service is adequate.
Decent Chinese food. We got the kwow pao pork ($28). This dish was pretty good. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and garlicky. The pork was crispy and somewhat tender. 4.5/5. We also got the hachi lamb chops ($28). The vegetables, spices and herbs contributed to give a nice aromatic flavour. However, we found the lamb to be a little too fatty. 4/5. My favourite dish was probably the stir fried cauliflower ($26). It was seasoned well, had a good amount of wok hei, and had chilli’s and peppercorns, which contributed to a nice slightly spicy, numbing experience. 5/5. We also got the pork and cabbage dumplings ($16) which had no issues to it. The skin had a nice chew to it, and the meat was tender and well seasoned. 4.5/5. Despite the fake reviews here, the food we had was quite decent. Overall ~4.5/5.
Finally got to try this place with their authentic dishes. Portion was great, pricing was reasonable but slightly salty for the most of the food we ordered. One that had exotic mushrooms in was great!
Authentic Northeastern Chinese food! The pork bones with gloves served on the side gave me instant confidence—and the taste didn’t disappoint. It’s exactly the old Northeastern flavor I remember from childhood. The sweet and sour pork pairs perfectly with cilantro. The sauerkraut dumplings were just okay, but overall the food is authentic and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit!
