Decent food, but the hygiene and condiments need work. They are incredibly stingy with the chili oil (which has almost no chili crisp and only been given post repeated request), and the floors are dangerously sticky yet slippery.
Craving that authentic Shanghai vibe right in the heart of Hurstville? 🥟✨ We recently visited Taste of Shanghai - Lilong on the Westfield Hurstville rooftop, and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is electric, blending that classic industrial-chic decor with the hustle and bustle of a true dumpling house. Whether you’re looking for a cozy date spot or a lively dinner with friends, this rooftop gem hits all the right notes. Here’s what hit the table: Pan-Fried Pork Buns: These are the real deal! Perfectly crispy on the bottom, fluffy on top, and exploding with hot, savory broth. Stir-Fry Beef: Genuinely surprised by how melt-in-your-mouth tender these were. The seasoning was spot on. Shandong Chicken: A must-order! Crispy skin, juicy meat, and served on a bed of fresh lettuce with that addictive vinegar-based sauce. Steamed Dumplings & Wontons in Chilli Oil: If you like a little kick, these are silky, flavorful, and swimming in just the right amount of spice. Everything was fresh, fast, and full of flavor. If you’re a fan of authentic Shanghainese street food with a modern twist, you definitely need to add this to your Sydney food bucket list! 🥢🇦🇺 🔥 #TasteOfShanghai #HurstvilleEats #SydneyFoodie #DumplingLovers #SydneyRooftops
I wanted to mention that the meat quality was really disappointing—it’s not what we expected compared to other restaurants. The dumpling filling and the veggie stir-fry both seemed off—just really oily and lacking flavor.
Lilong taste of shanghai has been in Hurstville for a while now, and is one of the personally better places for Shanghai food. However, even after spending a good while here, everytime I have been here the service has been terrible in multiple different ways. From dirty plates with crumbs still on them from previous users to the tables being so sticky it makes you wonder whether or not employees bother to use any cleaning products to proper keep a hygenic eating space. The waiters are no help either, as they dont say much and look at you as you look at the menu. While that is less of a peeve in comparison to the overall cleanliness of the resturant, it worrys me to wonder how clean the kitchen is if this is what is presented to the customers. Regardless, the food is good and a standout in itself but the service and anything customer-related needs a good look at. - Gio LS
Having frequently enjoyed Lilong in Darling Square, we had high expectations, but our visit today was a major disappointment. Overall, the food was well below the standard of nearby options. In particular, the grilled onion pancake was severely undercooked, leaving a raw, floury taste and visible white flour in the middle. When I brought this to the waiter’s attention, there was no apology, no offer to replace it, and no deduction from the bill—just a dismissive "OK." Disappointing quality control and indifferent service. We won't be returning.
