Sizable portions on everything for a decent price, but actually good food too is what attracts the crowds here. There's usually a queue during weekend peak times. Their menu is massive and has heaps of variety from entrees, mains, noodles, dim sum, etc. We tried to pick some of the signature items from their menu to sample and were surprised with the great taste and portions. The have a new, creative twist on many old dishes. Would come again.
Food is still as good as ever at Mr. Stonebowl. The service we received was okay overall, and to be fair, we didn’t have any special requests. However, I do hope the owner is aware of the skinny petite girl working at the front counter, because her attitude and lack of hospitality really stood out today. At around 1:15pm, a customer walked in and mentioned they had a group of 10 people. The girl immediately responded with: “10 people? Wait outside!” — no greeting, no “please,” nothing. Honestly, at that moment it would have been very possible to rearrange a few tables or ask existing customers if they minded moving slightly. I personally would not have minded changing tables at all if it helped accommodate a larger group. Then around 1:30pm, the same group came back to check if a table was available. The girl kept saying she couldn’t guarantee when customers would leave, and she repeatedly emphasized, “We close at 3pm.” About 10 minutes later, one table finished dining, then another next to it became available, and finally the group of 10 — after waiting around half an hour — was seated. Shortly after that, more customers arrived at around 1:50pm. Again, it was the same girl at the front. Still no greeting, no “how are you,” no welcoming attitude at all. The very first thing she said was: “We close at 3pm.” I completely understand that customers should be informed about closing time, but when that’s literally the first thing said to guests, without any friendliness or basic hospitality, it gives the impression that she simply doesn’t want customers to come in. In the hospitality industry, service attitude matters just as much as the food. The food here is genuinely very good, which is why I’m still giving a positive review overall. But I really hope the owner can provide some proper front-of-house training, because the restaurant deserves service that matches the quality of the food.
I am a fan of all Mr Stonebowl branches and this one is no exception I absolutely adore the squid ink sea food cheesy rice which I never fail to order whenever I go. Such a beautiful blend of flavours and tasty. I recently also ordered the HANDMADE TOFU WITH FIN & SEA CUCUMBER SAUCE which was absolutely delightful - so soft, flavourful and warm. Highly recommend everything on the menu to be honest. All items are a delight to the mouth and stomach
Came here for dinner with my family and one of my favourites when in Sydney. Sadly when we came they were already sold out of the lobster and mud crab dish. But really enjoyed the other dishes we had. Really well presented and really nice flavours. Favourites of the night was the fried rice (it was blue rice!), fried eggplant chips, sweet and sour pork, green beans, the diced wagyu and mushroom dish was delicious but is better while still hot, once the diced wagyu has cooled it starts to taste very beefy. But still really delicious and very reasonably priced. Only thing the restaurant needs to do is fix their front door. People were struggling to open the door to get in or out lol
Tasty food and Funny service. They gave us an extra dish by mistake, the meat with green beans. I was eating it thinking my friend ordered. But half way, a waitress came and took it. My friend was a bit annoyed and said we will take the dish and pay for it. But still won't accept and took it away. I just thought it's funny. It's too much dishes anyway so I don't really mind they took it back. I don't want to eat too much and feel sleepy.
