My favourite and go to malatang place right now. Great selection of ingredients to add to your malatang, they have now even included brisket fat, which is amazing. You can get discount for membership, prices are very affordable and reasonable. The cherry on top is you get free plum drink, steamed rice and jelly dessert (unfortunately looks like they dont serve jelly anymore and its a fermented rice soup for dessert) Would definitely recommend going here, amazing food, so ofcoure it will get busy during peak times. Not too busy on weekdays though.
One of the best malatangs I have been to in a while. The variety was great and so many unique options I havent seen before. Broths were all so flavourful, szechuan was very spicy and numbing. I love that they also give free rice, congee and plum juice with it!!
Loved this casual Maots’ai place. Maots’ai is kind of like a malatang. The overall flavour (I had Signature Szechuan soup base) was decent, not the most umami or flavourful but it also did not feel like it was loaded with MSG so I guess that might be why. The price ($4.28/100g weight) is fair. Few things that stood out a lot to me though: 1. The restaurant is relatively clean. 2. The ingredients are arranged neatly in their trays. 3. The vegetable ingredients appear well cleaned, are mostly free of scuffs or disfigurement and look fresh; indicating good quality control. 4. There is a good topping and condiment station not dissimilar to that of a hot pot restaurants’. They also have complementary cucumber pieces; to cool off if you find the spice overwhelming. 5. Free plum juice drink, rice, congee available at the counter near the door (the “congee” is actually a sweet grass jelly dessert - with sultanas and pistachios usually, which I love both as an appetiser and a dessert). I think this last point is not seen in other Malatang restaurants and is a major selling point. Overall 5/5.
I genuinely loved this place when I visited ! I highly recommend their stir fry. Loved the spices and their marinated meats !! Wow. Also the free rice, jelly etc was the icing on the cake.
Good selection of hot pot and malatang bases. Lots of fresh topping to choose from. The free plum juice, rice and jelly desserts are nice. Overall very tasty. I just had one incident where the fresh meats were not cooked properly and I had an incredibly upset stomach for the rest of the day.
