I really enjoyed delicious Chinese cuisine in Pearl Eating House. I especially like their Slow Poached Free Ranged Chicken as it is incredibly fresh and flavorful. Deep fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk are tender and juicy, coated in a crispy, fragrant salted egg yolk crust. Diced Wagyu Beef and Mushroom in Traditional Gravy are very tender, paired with a mix of mushrooms, green capsicum and onions, creating a rich and satisfying taste. Pork Ribs with Peking Sauce are succulent and tasty, glazed with a sweet and tangy tomato-based sauce. The xiao long bao are amazing as once you take a bite, the savory soup bursts out, making each mouthful incredibly enjoyable. The service at Pearl Eating House is attentive and thoughtful, making me feel truly welcomed. I’ll definitely come back again next time.
Overall: 4/7 - $62 Really just… this is yumcha. Nothing spectacular, but nothing wrong. Really just somewhere you can go if you feel like yumcha. Don’t expect great service, moderate amount of chaos and seems to be very busy at lunch on weekends. Sign up for the RSL membership for a discount. Tripe and Cheung fen were very solid. Everything else pretty average.
Great Cantonese restaurant in Kogarah. The portions were very generous and perfect for sharing. I especially loved the Zhenjiang pork ribs and the Pearl hot pot – both were very flavourful. Friendly service and good value, especially with the Tuesday discount. Will definitely come back!
1st time here. Friends doesn’t recommend Hot & Sour, neither Xia Long Boa, so we didn’t try. The Seafood & Tofu is a bit bland, still ok, but I wouldn’t try their Tofu next time. Not to say it gone bad but both of us found it taste a bit funny. Stir Fry Snow Peas & Broccoli is the best dish tonight. Not too bland neither over seasoning nor over cooked. The only suggestion is, it would be perfect if they peel the tougher skin of broccoli a bit. Stir Fry Beef Flat Rice Noodles is the one dish I could hard pass. Oily, taste bland, insufficient colour & “wok air”. Could use more heat, light & dark soya sauce. Most interestingly, some flat rice noodles still stuck together like a sandwich, indicating insufficient stir fry. Yet at the same time some noodles have already been broken into many smaller pieces, indicating over stir fry. So the chef’s Wok Skill is unimpressive. Prawn Chips is good. Would I be back? Maybe, maybe not.
Great food and really busy, which says a lot. Loved the salted egg yolk crab and the shredded chicken with jellyfish. Everything tasted fresh and well balanced. Will definitely come back.
