Nice little place in Burwood, order and pay at the counter (cash for discount), self serve water, no tissues or chilli oil on table like other places. Would recommend, so many small family run places to support!

Xi’An Eatery seems to be a local staple here in Burwood Chinatown. They have a sliding door that opens and closes with a button. The entryway leads up to a stand with the menu and the waitlist. On the weekday night of my visit, there was no line, and our food came out in 15-20 minutes. The server spoke Mandarin Chinese and had a typical Chinese auntie demeanor. -Biang biang noodle $15.80: really good wide noodles with some chicken pieces and potato cubes -Lamb skewers $13.80 for 5 skewers: I wish the flavor was stronger. -Fried spicy chicken $18.80 重庆辣子鸡： I feel like the flavor was just ok because I have had better. Credit card has a surcharge. TLDR: get biang biang noodle here

I came here off of other reviews that praised the biang biang noodles, and they are in fact pretty good. Authentic, handmade, great bounce and texture. The accompanying chilli oil for my spinach noodles was on the salty/strong side, which I personally enjoyed but may not be for everyone. I also tried the green onion pancakes and lamb skewers which honestly were a bit meh—pancakes could've had more scallion flavour, lamb left no particular impression on me. At the end of the day though, you can eat out here and be fully fed for less than $20 if you want (bit more if you want to try more Shaanxi food or get a drink) and that's outstanding value for money today. P.S. They have a Heineken+mango juice mixed drink which tasted great to my palate, but I'm not a beer nerd.

Customer service is as good and food came out in a decent time. We ordered the signature noodles with pork, the spinach noodles and the pork and chive dumplings. The texture of the dumplings were great and they tasted nice. The signature noodles had great texture and the taste was really nice also. The spinach noodles were ok, a bit salty.

I recently visited this Xi'an restaurant with high expectations but left feeling quite disappointed. The spicy cold chicken and liang pi were my biggest disappointment. The sauce on both dishes didn’t seem quite right and tasted different from what I usually enjoy at other places. It lacked the bold, flavorful punch that I expect from Xi'an cuisine, although I will say the texture of the noodles in the liang pi was spot on. The lamb skewers were also below par, they were dry and lacked the juicy tenderness I was hoping for. I am sure they had been precooked. The pan-fried dumplings were also another miss. They weren’t crispy at all and the filling was disappointingly sparse. It felt like a rushed dish with little attention to detail. However, not everything was bad. The stir-fried long beans and stir-fried pork belly were the saving grace of the meal. Both dishes were flavorful and well cooked. The prices here are very reasonable, making it an affordable option. But despite the reasonable prices, the overall quality of the food just didn’t meet my expectations. If you are asking whether I would go back again, the answer is probably not. There are better options out there for Xi'an cuisine.
