The place has a really cute, modern vibe — not overly fancy, but still aesthetic enough that it feels like a nice little outing rather than just a quick dumpling stop. The dumplings are definitely the highlight. They’re fresh, juicy, and packed with flavour. The pan-fried ones have that perfect crispy bottom, and the steamed options are just as good. Portion sizes are decent too, which makes it great for sharing with friends.
Had been wanting to try this place for the various dumpling options but the dumplings and bao were too doughy and didn’t taste fresh. Crystal prawn dumplings were still better, our favourite was Mapo tofu.
We had a wonderful experience at Dear Deer. The food was fantastic, the service prompt, friendly. So many amazing smells and flavours. We'll most definitely be back to try more off the menu. Right in the heart of crows nest, it's easy to get to by public transport. Parking can be tricky in the area at peak times.
I’m very disappointed with the experience from Dear Deer Dumplings. From the moment we walked in we saw the tables downstairs were for servicing upstairs. We asked for a table for two. We then sat down. We waited to be given menus we weren’t. After waiting 10 mins, I went to ask for menus and then we decided what we were after. I then had to ask to be served. We then got our dumplings and fried rice. These were very underwhelming. The dumplings were stodgy and the fried rice wasn’t worth $19. It had three pieces of small chicken and very underwhelming in flavour. I then ordered a tea that I didn’t receive. I would look past poor service if the food was tasty and worth it. We were highly disappointed. We didn’t get asked how was everything. Just a sorry and I provided feedback to one of the staff members but didn’t genuinely seem interested in our experience. I don’t write reviews on here however the experience was so bad I feel I had too. The service model needs to change. We won’t be coming back
INCREDIBLE ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!🤩 This is the best food in Darlinghurst!!!! ITS SO GOOD! The customer service is incredible the waitress’s are so lovely 🥰. I go here at least twice a month if not more!! I can’t tell you how amazing it is. Everything about it is just the best!! I recommend highly it’s just so good! The ai posters are a bit off putting but everything else is just incredible.
