The best Ethiopian food I've had in Sydney! We ordered the combination dish for two which came with 3 meat dishes, 5 vegetarian dishes and injera. Each was full of flavour and the injera was sooo tasty! To finish off we tried Ethiopian coffee which was also very flavourful paired with popcorn. The presentation was amazing! The customer service was really good, the owner was very attentive and made sure our dining experience was a good one. We will definitely be back again!
Gursha Ethiopian Restaurant in Blacktown is conveniently located near Blacktown Library. I had a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant offers authentic Ethiopian cuisine that is rich in flavour, beautifully prepared, and served with genuine hospitality. The dish I admire the most is the Injera, Ethiopia's traditional sourdough flatbread. Made through a natural fermentation process, injera has a unique slightly tangy taste and a soft, spongy texture that perfectly absorbs the flavours of the accompanying stews and curries. It is not only delicious but also an important part of the Ethiopian dining experience, traditionally used in place of utensils to scoop up food and share meals together. The quality of the food at Gursha is exceptional. Every dish tastes fresh, expertly seasoned, and carefully prepared using authentic ingredients and traditional cooking methods. The flavours are rich, satisfying, and showcase the depth of Ethiopian cuisine beautifully. The portions are generous, making the meal even more enjoyable. The service is equally impressive. The owner appears very attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests have a great experience. He is approachable, talkative, and happy to explain the dishes and Ethiopian dining traditions, making visitors feel welcome from the moment they arrive. His helpful attitude adds a personal touch that makes the restaurant stand out. Another highlight is the reasonable pricing. Considering the quality, authenticity, generous portion sizes, and excellent service, Gursha offers outstanding value for money. I highly recommend Gursha Ethiopian Restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic dining experience in Blacktown. Between the scrumptious food, warm hospitality, and welcoming atmosphere, it is truly one of the area's hidden gems.
This was our very first experience trying Ethiopian cuisine, and it turned out to be a memorable one. We ordered four dishes, all served with the traditional spongy bread called injera, which added a unique texture and flavor to the meal. Dullet (Kidney Lamb Offal) If you’re adventurous, this dish is a must-try. The lamb kidney was cooked with spices that reminded us of Filipino sisig—flavorful, aromatic, and surprisingly without any strong smell. It was delicious and well-prepared. Tibs (Beef) Recommended by the owner, this dish was the highlight of our meal. The beef had a smoky flavor and was seasoned beautifully with onion, tomato, and rosemary. While the taste was excellent, we felt the meat could have been cooked a little more tender. Ethiopian Coffee with Popcorn To finish, we enjoyed traditional Ethiopian coffee, served with popcorn. The coffee was rich and smooth, a perfect way to end the meal. Overall Impression We had a very good experience exploring Ethiopian food for the first time. The dishes were flavorful, unique, and offered us something new and exciting. The warm recommendation from the owner and the traditional coffee ceremony made the evening even more special.
Vegetarian plate - different types of lentils , veggies with injera bread. Spicy and delicious. And the Ethiopian coffee was out of this world. Great and friendly service. Fabulous African food in the heart of Blacktown, too good to be missed.
A warm and welcoming family run spot. Upon visit we were unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine however the descriptive menu with photographs displayed helped our selection a ton. - and so the food delivered was wholeheartedly enjoyed and appreciated. Injera in particular was something unfamiliar to us but most intriguing and memorable. The steak was also very tender and flavourful!
