The food was well balanced in what was used as combination of ingredients to give a wonderful flavour. The effort done in making each of the dishes look like an artwork was a skill that was appreciated by all of us (4). There was a good range of wine and a long list of Sake. We just got wine, white to go with seafood and red with meat. Only that the searing on the edges was a little soft for the wagyu and the venison. The service was 5 stars. Each time a dish was presented a detailed explanation followed was more than what one can remember. The Pear and Cacao was really great with roasted cacao seeds to end the courses.
LuMi reflects the chef's formative experiences across Italy, Japan, and beyond - a menu that blends discipline with creativity. The omakase menu includes eight snacks, six dishes, two desserts and petit fours. All the snacks came out quickly (within 30 minutes) and were beautifully presented with great flavours and textures. My favourites were the potato & wagyu, beetroot & trout, and the abalone toast. Some of the other snacks didn't have as much depth, but overall still tasty. For the mains, there were a few hits and misses, and the pacing slowed down quite a bit compared to the snacks. The chawanmushi, crudo, toothfish, and marron were standouts. Some of the accompanying elements didn't quite hit for me - the agnolotti with foam felt overpowering, and the sauce for the quail was a bit too intense for my liking. Desserts were delicious, refreshing, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Petit fours, however, weren't my favourite. Service was excellent - friendly, attentive and detailed in explaining every dish.
I don't typically write reviews, but given the price of the omakase menu, I thought it might be helpful for others considering a visit. We dined at Lumi roughly two weeks ago while the May menu was being served. We were served around 18 dishes throughout the evening, beginning with snacks and nibbles, followed by entrée, mains, and desserts. The snacks were generally bite-sized or designed to be enjoyed over two to three bites (which I certainly did). I believe we were served eight nibbles, each offering different textures and flavour combinations. Every course felt distinct, and I was always looking forward to the next while still savouring the current one. The nibbles arrived quite quickly, with less than three minutes between each dish. I personally didn't mind the pace, but if you prefer a more relaxed dining experience, I'd recommend letting your server know. My top three nibbles were the beetroot tart with smoked eel and trout roe, the squid ink pie tee, and the beautiful scampi tart. Our entrée was a kingfish crudo with grapes, olives, pickled jalapeños, finger limes, and a cold broth. I really enjoyed the freshness of the kingfish paired with the grapes and olives, but I found the finger limes and broth overwhelmingly sour, which detracted from the overall flavour balance. For the mains, we were served cod, marron, agnolotti, and quail. My favourite was the quail thanks to its tender, juicy texture, with the marron a close second. The first dessert was a passionfruit sorbet served on lemon curd, which was a lovely palate cleanser after the mains. While I'm not usually a fan of lemon curd, I found the pairing worked beautifully, with the creaminess of the curd complementing the slight tartness of the sorbet. We were also served cheesecake and cookies in the second round of desserts, though neither stood out in particular. To finish, we were served vanilla ice cream with an incredibly crisp and crunchy wafer that had a beautiful caramel flavour. The most exciting and enjoyable part of the evening for me was definitely the snacks. Each one felt unique and thoughtfully executed. While the mains were well prepared, they were less memorable and didn't stand out in the same way as the earlier courses. I'm quite a small eater, so I was very full by the end of the meal. For reference, I'd estimate the total amount of food was roughly equivalent to two bowls of ramen. The service was lovely throughout the evening, particularly from Jake, who took great care in explaining each dish to us and ensuring we had an enjoyable experience. Overall, Lumi delivered a memorable dining experience with exceptional snacks, attentive service, and enough variety to keep every course interesting, though a few dishes felt less balanced than others.
We visited LuMi for the first time to celebrate a special occasion and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the staff were warm and attentive throughout the evening. We chose the omakase menu, and every course was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. The gunkan, potato & wagyu, and abalone toast were particular highlights. Service was a little slow, with the meal taking around three hours from start to finish, but overall it was a lovely dining experience and one we’d happily return for.
We absolutely loved every bit we had here ❤️ we did the Omakase Menu, 9 snacks and and 9 courses. The snacks were absolutely the highlight of the evening each bite taking you in and going somewhere unexpected, LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤️ The 9 courses that followed where delicious but didn't quite live up to the high standard that the snacks set. The service was a bit all over the place, chefs where yelling "service" left and right without their orders getting picked up, and all of a sudden we went from no snacks in front of us to three snacks served almost at the same time with no directions of which snack to eat first and at that price point I would expect a good and clear description of my food (which also felt very rushed whenever we got one) I will recommend this place for their excellent food but I hope the service improves if I come here again
