Unfortunately we didn’t have a booking but we were greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. However seating in the loft area lacks atmosphere and being able to appreciate the live pianist. Service was ok, I liked that staff appeared to enjoy their job and surrounds. Compliments to the chef, food was excellent. Entree was Scallop and chicken pate, delicious. Main was lobster and lamb … lamb exceptional… flavoursome and tender. Dessert raspberry brûlée was to die for.

Love the atmosphere. The entree and dessert is done nicely. Nothing too fanc, yet nice flavour and presentation. The main course, lobster is too soft. The texture just not right. The lamb is done well, the fish is ok. Love the crepe Suzette ! Didnt fail me.

Chez Beckett's has the bones of something special, a room that hums with the kind of live piano that makes you sit up a little straighter and order one more glass of wine than you planned. The staff here deserve their own standing ovation: attentive without hovering, warm without the forced theatre so many "fine dining" joints mistake for hospitality. This is service done the way it should be done, and it's the best reason to book a table. The kitchen, unfortunately, didn't get the same memo as the floor staff. The food is a Tale of Two Extremes. The French onion soup arrived looking the part, but tasting like someone had shown an onion a bowl of hot water and asked it to leave a good impression. It's the kind of dish that should be a warm hug and instead felt like a weak and polite handshake. The truffle soufflé, on the other hand, was a genuine surprise (in flavour, at least). The truffle lingered beautifully, but structurally it had given up on being a soufflé somewhere along the way and settled into omelette territory. Delicious, confused, and not what the menu promised. The wine list where you pay high end Sydney CBD prices for suburban ambition. Here's where the math stops adding up. The wine list carries a price tag that assumes you're drinking somewhere with a three-hat pedigree, but the selection doesn't quite justify the markup when you stack it against comparable French-inspired rooms around town. You're paying for the piano and the pours, and one of those is worth it. While the wine list left something to be desired, the cocktail program is where Chez Beckett's quietly flexes its muscle. Each drink arrived beautifully balanced and clearly the work of someone who takes technique seriously. Proper dilution and garnishes that felt considered rather than decorative. It's the kind of cocktail menu and execution that makes you wonder why the kitchen and cellar didn't ask the bar for a few pointers. The Verdict Chez Beckett's is a room you want to love... gorgeous atmosphere, staff who genuinely make you feel looked after, and some glimpses of real culinary flair. But between an onion soup that phoned it in and a wine list padding the bill, the kitchen and the cellar need to catch up to the front of house. Go for the service and the pianist; keep your expectations tempered on the plate and the pour.

We had a wonderful experience at Chez Becketts for lunch yesturday. The decor is lovely which adds to an elevated dining experience. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional. They accommodated dietary requirements without any fuss or attitude. Nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 3, each having entree and main. All the meals were a generous serving size. The wines that were recommended went beautifully with our food. The crepe Suzette and the end of the meal was lovely and presented with theater and flare. My coctail to start was superb. We took advantage of their lunch special, great value. We are already planning a return visit!

We had the most fabulous meal this evening. Delicious, succulent oysters with a subtle vinaigrette to start. For the mains, we had the wagyu blanket was perfectly cooked. Our desserts - crème brûlée and a white chocolate ice cream with pistachio floss were a delightful finish to our meal. Wine complemented the food beautifully. Service was en pointe throughout. Best if all, it was 50 metres from our hotel room in the Old Clare. Can thoroughly recommend.
