Lovely find. For years I have been looking for authentic Viennese Schnitzel in Sydney. Some came close, but none were excellent. Now we found it at Stuyvesant's house. Add the Kassler and the freshly made apple strudel and the Lunch was perfect. We just walked in because we had an errand to run in Crow's nest and ended up spending a good hour and a half with excellent food, beer and wine. And a great chat with Rudi who had lots of stories to share :-) Great place - coming back soon!
To me, this restaurant is a treasure! I've had this restaurant in my Google map list for almost a decade, turns out, it worths stay in my restaurant list forever! Rudi is very "rude" and cute, kindly served us with his not only the sense of cooking but also the sense of humor. We had a fabulous dinner here with a happy chat. Sure to return with the whole family!
It is a cosy restaurant that really exudes austrohungarian era. Had their jaeger schitzel and it is very wonderful with a perfectly cooked vegetable accompaniment of carrot.
To be in business for over 52 years is an incredible achievement, and Rudi was a fantastic host for our group of five, ably aided by a lovely waiter and waitress. We ordered an assortment of German food and left full and satisfied, while my guests enjoyed a peruse of what would have to be Sydneys most extensive in restaurant cellar.
We have been wanting to visit this restaurant for some time & after yesterday's meal , it has been our loss not to have visited sooner. The food is 9.5/10. Really , that good . Mixed oysters to die for. Mains better ! - see photos - they do not do it justice. Service is ,...... how can I put this,... unique, but GREAT, & for us , friendly , personal & memorable. You need to experience it to get it. If you have special needs , do your research, check the menu & let them know beforehand. They will help you out given fair warning. We are going back next week & probably the week after.
