Recommend reserving a spot before you go. Service is excellent. The staff are wonderful and so patient. Checked on us as well. Foods not bad. We ordered a fiery aloo Gobi for starter, Chicken biryani and kallu appam and fish curry. Loved the fish curry. Portions are good. Appam was pretty heavy and we had to pack almost all of the biryani. Throughout the evening, there was someone who said/buzzed prayers. Imagine that! It was really odd for prayers to be said out quite loud for a public place and in a restaurant. This became a live background music for our entire dinner. Such a strange experience!
Masala dosa was fresh and tasty, full of flavour. Chicken 65 was good too. Overall, a great experience and the customer service was excellent.
If you’re craving authentic South Indian food in Sydney, Dakshin is an absolute gem! From the moment I took the first bite, I genuinely felt like I was back in India. The flavors were rich, traditional, and packed with the kind of love and spice that you only find at home. I tried a variety of dishes, and each one was spot on – especially the dosas and sambhar, which had that perfect balance of tangy and spicy. The aroma, the presentation, and the taste took me straight to the streets of Chennai or a cozy South Indian home kitchen. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance was clean and comfortable – nothing too fancy, but exactly what you’d expect in a place that focuses on delivering great food. If you’re missing Indian flavors or just want to experience real South Indian cuisine, Dakshin is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back soon!
I had ordered Biryani combo which comes with Chicken Biryani, Chicken 65, raitha and choice of sweet. I had chosen Pistachio Kulfi which tasted really good. I Loved the taste of Chicken Biryani. The chicken 65 was bit salty but tasty. If you're from Bengaluru you will definitely like the Biryani and Chicken 65, I found it similar to what we get in Bengaluru for Biryani and Kebab. Hospitality was very good. The pricing is on premium side.
We came in for an early dinner. The service was a little slow at first, we did book a table. Food came out reasonably fast. We ordered a spinach and paneer curry and a chicken curry of some sort. We also got a biriyani too and some naans. Everything was very tasty, staff was friendly. The food came in generous serving sizes.
