We used to dine there when it was the Rongoon Racket Club, years ago. Fast forward 20 years and the colonial Indian restaurant is still fabulous (miss all the palm trees). Friday night, we walked in at 6:15 and got the last table, the whole restaurant was fully booked, so what does that say for the quality of food, the ambience, great service, and experience. Book ahead.

The food and wine were delicious. My favourite dish was the lamb with spinach and daal. We dined as a group, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. The only thing that gave us pause was the restaurant's name. We wondered whether it might evoke associations with colonialism or imperialism, and whether that sits comfortably alongside such wonderful food.

We have been going to this restaurant since last 7 years and I must say they are awesome. The food taste, hospitality has been consistent everytime we visit. The staff are very kind, friendly and always welcoming. I cannot point a dish that is awesome because all of there dishes are just amazing! Goat Biriyani, Sultan Goat Curry, Chicken Madras, Mix Veg Curry, Malai Kofta are some of the amazing ones. I would like to give this 10 star but we have only 5 star max for google reviews. Keep up the good work team Rangoon. We will be visiting there soon. Thank you

Haven’t been here for a long time, we drop in for a lunch. The restaurant has not change a bit, the traditional colonial ambience with the wait person greeting us with warm welcome. Food was as good as I remember the serving was generous, love the mix entrees and my old favourite Elephant boy curries. We miss it and we will be back. 9/10 A regular dinning favourite now.

It was a lovely evening sharing great food with close friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the curries we ordered until one of us noticed a series of enlarged black-and-white photographs on a column. One of the photographs depicted an Indian man holding an umbrella over a white woman, a scene that many people would recognise as reflecting a colonial hierarchy. From that point on, we found ourselves looking differently at the restaurant's décor. Taken together with the restaurant's name, the imagery gave us the impression that colonialism was being romanticised. We left wondering whether this was really the atmosphere the restaurant intended to create.
