Rantau Restaurant inside Good Luck Plaza is a hidden gem for authentic Indonesian food, especially if you love bakso (Indonesian meatballs). Their specialty is the house-made meatballs, and they are absolutely delicious. Some come in jumbo size with chunky meat inside, making them very satisfying and full of flavour. One dish I strongly recommend is the bone marrow — it was rich, flavourful, and cooked perfectly. Their house-made chilli sauce is also a must-try. It tastes incredibly fresh with a nice medium spice level that complements the dishes very well. We also ordered the nasi padang with rendang, the Aussie-style cassava leaves curry made with silverbeet, and the deep-fried fish with chilli. Honestly, I enjoyed every single dish. The rendang was very tender, and the rendang bumbu had the perfect balance of flavour — not too spicy but definitely not mild either. The chilli served with the deep-fried fish was the highlight for me because it tasted very authentic and packed with flavour. The silverbeet curry was soft, comforting, and very tasty. To finish the meal, we ordered the cassava cheese dessert. It came in a very generous portion of deep-fried cassava topped with two kinds of cheese and finished with condensed milk. Very unique, indulgent, tasty, and memorable. Overall, this was a fantastic meal and I will definitely come back again.
The bakso was unbelivably good and i would recommend this place because, the staff is nice and i even met a content creator. 100% recommend if you are near the area.
The food was absolutely delicious and was one of the best meals I have had. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lovely people however the Pempak noodles were tiny for the price of $17 - one mouthful of noodles with fish cake. We were shocked. The fish cakes was quite tasty however. Likewise the Bakso was not bad however, was also very tiny for its price. The size of a boat noodle.
Best indo food ive eaten in Australia, clean restaurant, home cooked family style meals and lovely staff. Highly recommend checking it out
