We celebrated our son’s 21st birthday at the Mercantile last night. What can I say? You guys went over and above to accommodate us. Originally we had booked the rooftop for our celebration but the weather wasn’t great. The lovely staff arranged a table for 20 people downstairs in a private area with the heaters on. We all ordered and our meals came out promptly. The meals were beautiful, generous servings and well priced. Special shout out to our gorgeous waitress, we had the best time and we’ll definitely be suggesting your venue to our friends. ☘️
I booked this hotel last minute as my airline got me on an earlier flight from Hawaii. We got in about 8 and the room i requested was unavailable however they made up for it by offering dinner. My sister and I ordered the shamrock pie. Which is a dragon we will be chasing for the rest of our life. Thats how good it was. It was fantastic. Vanessa went above and beyond to accommodate us and made our stay 100 times better. In the morning we were included a sit down breakfast at 4 doors down. Again, fantastic. Can't say enough about the food. The location was hands down the best location I can think of. 5 min from the bridge and opera house as well as trains and ferries. Id stay here a million times again
With the Mercantile Pub reopening, we decided to stay in the newly renovated accommodation. On arrival the service from Collin and Mick was outstanding.The King Room classic, was very well appointed, it was on the smaller side, but very comfortable. We looked at a couple of the other rooms like The Heritage Rooms and they are bigger if you need more space. Very clean, comfy bed and beautiful linen. Heritage features in tact, bathroom with a great shower. Room was very quiet. Breakfast at 4 doors down was included and rounded out our perfect weekend back at one of our favorite Sydney pubs!
Stopped into the Mercantile Hotel and had the Spice Bag for lunch—what a great choice! The portion was generous, packed with flavour, and had the perfect balance of crispy chicken, seasoned chips, and spices. Everything was cooked fresh and served hot. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and efficient. If you’re looking for a great pub meal with something a little different, I’d definitely recommend giving the Spice Bag a try. I’ll happily be back!
The Merc is a fantastic Irish bar in the Rocks. They recently have opened a rooftop bar which has a relaxed vibe. The good news is it has a lift and it is advisable to book a table during the busier times. The salt and pepper squid melts in your mouth and a must. We also tried the Shamrock Pie, bangers and mash which are classic Irish dishes and were good. The fried chicken burger was okay but will try something different next time. The ground floor bar is your typical Irish bar and they have fabulous live music as well. Definitely add this bar on your list if you visit the Rocks.
