To celebrate my upcoming birthday, I had dinner at Aperitivo with my family, and regrettably, I found the experience to be somewhat middling. I was looking forward to trying some real, authentic Italian food, and in this regard, I was not let down. However, based on reviews I'd read online, I admit I had my expectations set decently high, and as far as those expectations were concerned, I was rather disappointed. We ordered the Pappardelle D'Agnello, the Quattro Formaggi and Siciliana pizzas, and the Porchetta Ariccia. The pappardelle was flawless in almost every way, with the 12-hour sauce stealing the show. The only detractor was the portion size, which was unexpectedly small. This was also something we noticed about the porchetta, of which there was only one slice no more than 1.5 centimetres thick. For $34 and $40 respectively, I feel there should've been more on the plate. The major issue we had, however, was with the pizza. The flavours were wonderful, especially on the quattro formaggi, which had the flavours of the four different cheeses all shining through. However, the toppings on both pizzas slid off the base the moment we tried to cut the pizzas into slices. We had to try to scoop the toppings back onto the pizza to enjoy it as a whole, and this detracted from our overall approval of the dish by a lot. The staff members were nice enough and provided more or less the sort of service one should expect of any restaurant. The inside of Aperitivo was also satisfactory, though I personally would've liked some slightly brighter lighting. I would not be entirely opposed to visiting Aperitivo again, but I unfortunately cannot say it would be my first choice. Nevertheless, it wasn't a bad experience, and while underwhelming, I still had a generally enjoyable meal.

We popped into Aperitivo on 14th May and honestly, what a great little find. Leichhardt is obviously no stranger to Italian restaurants, but this one really delivered. The standout for us was actually the service. The manager was the only one working the floor that day — and I don't know how he did it, but he handled every table effortlessly. Never flustered, always friendly, and he somehow managed to make you feel like you had his full attention even when he was clearly juggling a lot. That kind of calm under pressure is rare and really set the tone for the whole meal. And then the food — really good. The kind of pizza and pasta that just hits the spot without overcomplicating things. Fresh, flavourful, generous. The drinks were great too and kept coming without us having to chase anyone down. It was just one of those meals where everything clicked. Good food, good drinks, and someone who clearly takes pride in what they do. We'll definitely be going back.

Mixed reviews about this place, I would say they need to improve on their service. They have clearly expanded and are very busy but need customer service skills & general cleaniness to improve to get people to keep coming back. Food as you can see in video was generous, lamb papadelle was silky and soft, the crab fettuccine not so much, wouldn't choose that again. Pistachio arachini were amazing. Pizza fluffy crust, yes you have to cut it yourself with scissors, a bit if fun but toppings slide off. Overall it was very noisy, people lining up not sure if they had reservations or not but keeps the wait staff busy instead of dealing with the actual service.

The diavolo pizza was excellent. Super puffed up crust around the edges with a wood-fired smokey flavour, one person can easily eat it. We dropped in after watching a film down the street at around 4pm so was super quiet, I’m sure during the evening or weekend lunches there would be more of a vibe. There is table service however orders can also be placed via QR code. Hope that doesn’t mean less personal services.

Had an absolutely outstanding experience at Aperitivo Pizza. The canotto-style pizza was sensational!! beautifully light, airy crust with that perfect balance of chew and crisp. Easily one of the best pizzas we’ve had in Sydney. The cacio e pepe rigatoni was equally impressive; rich, creamy and packed with flavour while still keeping that authentic simplicity the dish is known for. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of quality ingredients. Fantastic atmosphere, attentive staff and an overall dining experience that exceeded expectations. A true gem in Leichhardt for anyone who loves authentic Italian food. Highly recommend!! definitely a 5 star experience.
