I love the vibe at Bar Italia. It makes you feel like you're in Italy when dining here. They serve authentic Italian breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered a Bar Italia breakfast as I needed something light to start the day and it certainly got the job done. It's healthy and delicious. The Toblerone gelato shake is also well made and trumps most other milk shakes I've had. Regards @fooderarri

Old-school Italian spot with a warm, vibrant atmosphere—great choice for dinner. Service was attentive despite the busyness of the restaurant. Very impressive. We ordered the supreme pizza: classic thin base with well-balanced toppings. The meats paired nicely with mushrooms, olives, and onions. Personally, I would’ve liked the base cooked a touch longer, but still very enjoyable. The standout was the marinara pasta—easily one of the best seafood pastas I’ve had. The sauce alone carried a rich flavourful seafood depth, paired with great homemade spaghetti. Seafood was perfectly cooked. What a dish! Finished with gelato. Not usually big on dessert, but the strawberry sorbet was excellent—strong, natural strawberry flavour. Would definitely come back.

Bar Italia is a Leichhardt institution. I absolutely love this place because it’s not perfect. It’s sometimes chaotic, the staff may seem rude, it’s cash only (kinda) and you pay for every little thing, like a takeaway container. But. The thing is, the food and coffee and gelato, and therefore an affogato, is unbelievably delicious. It’s chaotic because it’s popular which feeds its old style ambience. The staff may not stop and chat because they are BUSY! You may be told it’s 10mins wait to be seated and then immediately get told to sit there! Embrace the chaos it’s a beautiful Italian kind of chaos. It may have faults but it delivers where it matters, on your palette. It’s cash only with an ATM inside. Top secret. You can order online and eat in. If they want cash then thats their business and their prerogative. But seriously the food is fantastic so soak up the atmosphere and just enjoy yourself. La dolce vita!!

Bar Italia has been my comfort-food go-to for years and remains one of my favourite institutions in Leichhardt. I honestly think I've ordered the spaghetti bolognese at least once a fortnight for close to five years, while my son is loyal to the meat lovers pizza. Whether we're dining in or feeling lazy and ordering delivery despite living in the same street, the food is always consistently good. What I love most is that the quality never seems to change. The spaghetti bolognese tastes exactly as it should every single time and has become my ultimate comfort meal. For those dining in, it's worth noting that the restaurant is cash only, although there is an ATM conveniently located on the premises. Beyond the food, the owner is a genuine supporter of the local community and can often be found giving back through events and initiatives around Leichhardt. Good food, consistency and a real sense of community. Bar Italia has earned its place as a local institution.

Great authentic Italian food and atmosphere, and best of all, prices were very reasonable! Thank you for the great food and friendly service. Love the attitude of the staff here. Also for anyone visiting for the first time - please note it's cash only.
