We booked the function space upstairs on the back of reviews and overall the expwrience was good, I cant say what the food would be like as a diner but as part of a 30 plus ppl function it was ok, Somehow they got the requested food wrong and we got 3 course incl desert. As a mostly Italian function very small portions is not what was expected, yes the food is good but we asked for an addional selection of pasta dishes to share with the table and it wasnt prepared so what can you do when you turn up and everyone is here, just carry on? Still the staff were very accomodating and attentive, the decor is great for you to set up flowers and ecorations for the table if you like. Overall a very expensive function space but just wished the food was a little more plentiful.
Respectfully I'm not quite a fan of the service. The gentleman serving us felt quite condescending. Occured within minutes of sitting down. Potentially it could be put down to a cultural differences. But I did feel slightly threatened to the point where I would shy away from asking things. While the food was quite fair, I think I wasn't able to enjoy it altogether. In fairness I do think the spinach side was quite underwhelming. Also the pasta. I'll stay apathetic and indifferent if others want to try, but frankly I will not be coming back.
On walking through the large wooden doors one is instantly embraced by warm hospitality and an attention to service in such a respectful and welcoming way one immediately feels at home, the atmosphere is social and warm, customers feel comfortable enough to speak to each and the softly lit room is filled with the gentle hum of comfortable conversations. Service is an orchestra of tuned choreography which benefits tables with that extra level of service that is often missing in restaurants today. The decor is from another era which sits comfortably and reassuringly stable in today’s hectic world. The food is of course the highlight, each course thoughtfully and thoroughly created to please the palate and please the eyes. Delicious and delightful. Some course delicate yet complex in its flavours, other dishes explosive with flavour; yet each dish containing flavour with a certain je ne sais quois one is left curious enough to want to happily return and try again. The restaurant is a destination restaurant, a place to go to celebrate or to commemorate or for a treat after a hard days work. For any occasion or reason, I would highly recommend this restaurant, for its feeling of discretion, ambiance, relaxed luxurious service, high quality modern Italian cuisine and a friendly vibe, which when combined feels like a warm hug. It is not an economical experience but well worth the lira to experience this level of quality in Sydney’s Paddington. I will be returning at least once a year!
We went there the other day for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The waiters Nick and Terry have been absolutely fantastic and provided such great service. This is definitely on my top 3 list of restaurants in Sydney. Needless to say the food is absolutely incredible, especially the Osso Bucco that David the chef made for us is the best I’ve ever had. If you visit Sydney this is the place to visit and 100% worth the price!
Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Buon Riccordo in Paddington, and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment we stepped inside, there was a sense of warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for the evening. We were greeted with kindness by the owner, and that same welcoming spirit flowed through every interaction with the staff. The private dining room we were in felt like a little escape—secluded, full of charm, and perfect for settling in and truly enjoying the night. The service was thoughtful and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. It allowed us to relax and savour each course at our own pace. And the food—what an experience. Each dish was beautifully balanced, refined yet full of heart. The flavours were so smooth and harmonious; every bite felt special. We enjoyed a beautifully curated three-course meal, finishing with a refreshing sorbet that rounded out the night perfectly. The attention to detail was remarkable—from the plating to the exquisite hand-painted dishes that transported me straight to a quiet laneway in Italy. It’s rare to find a place where everything—ambience, food, service, and soul—comes together so seamlessly. I can’t wait to return, and I wholeheartedly recommend Buon Ricordo to anyone looking for a truly special dining experience.
