This is an absolute classic Italian restaurant and quite the institution in Leichhardt. Situated opposite the Town Hall it is a converted petrol station and nods affectionately to its past. The food is classic Italian with all the usual favorites and absolutely authentic and delicious. The 4 cheese gnocchi is stupendous as it the tiramisu. The staff are delightful. The only negative are the toilets which need a refresh. A wonderful time to be had here.
amazing pizza place! I had Gioia a couple of times at home but the taste of this wood-fire pizza at the restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Also, the staff were very patient and nice to us. All the time coming to check how was everything. Young people but great customer service.
A Leichhardt classic! I had been going to Cafe Gioia when I was in my 20’s. Yesterday, we had our son’s birthday there, 20 guests, & we could not fault this restaurant! Food was delicious, service was outstanding. All the food came out together and on time. The waiters were friendly, polite and did not hesitate at any request. All our guests complimented the venue and food! The Leichhardt special pizza & fettuccine boscaiola were our star dishes and tasted amazing! Keep up the fantastic work Cafe Gioia team, we love you!
The food was great. We really enjoyed it. However the room we were in felt like a cafeteria everything. Echoed. We had kids screaming other kids with iPad on full volume we could barely hear each other talk. We had to ask 3 times for Parmesan cheese and I asked for chilli that just never arrived. It’s a real shame as the food was great.
I did like the food here. Wood fire pizza was decent. Salad served with calamari was fresh. I would have liked more toppings on the pizza. Yes I would return. Try something else. The carbonara was good, maybe too creamy w cream.
