Had dinner at Gelbison Bondi last night, the staff were warm and welcoming upon arrival which was nice because it was a cold wet night. The head chef greeted us when entering which gave a feeling of importance and showing of gratitude. We started with Insalata caprese for a starter, it was a great start to the meal, it was pleasing to the pallet with fresh tomatoes and bocconcini cheese. For entree I had the garlic prawns served in a hot pot, being a big fan of garlic, I was very please with the amount of garlic served with the prawns, with a slight chilli kick to it was needed with the chill in the air. Also the bread served on the side was the perfect way to suck up the amazing left over juices. My partner ordered the fungi di Bosco, a Mushroom risotto, my partner being some what of a conissure of Risotto really enjoyed this dish, very satisfied with the richness of the sauce and the large amount of mushrooms placed and the rice cooked to perfection. The highlight of the night was most definitely the pizza we ordered, being a lover of seafood, the chef recommended the seafood pizza, it came with octopus, prawns, scallops, mussels with a tangy tomato base. I have never had a pizza with so much toppings place on a pizza, the pizza base was cooked to perfection, the pizza gave a pleasing salty and tangy taste, most pleasing to my tastebuds. I can confidently say it’s in the top 3 of pizzas I have enjoyed. Complements to the chef. We finished the night with a beautiful sticky date pudding with a praline ice cream and a warm Caramel sauce, a perfect way to end a perfect meal. To sum up this experience, the atmosphere was inviting and there was a positive vibe. The staff were professional and very warm, really attentive and gave you the feeling that they wanted you there. The food was amazing, a big thank you to the chef for the time and effort put into his dishes. I will definitely be returning and most certainly being telling my friends and family about this place. With amazing scenery with a view of the iconic Bondi beach, to the delicious food delivered, to the staff that make you feel like family, a 10 out of 10. Thank you all for an amazing night.

The worst dining experience I’ve had in Sydney. I strongly recommend choosing any of the other highly-rated restaurants nearby. After a relaxing day at Bondi Beach, my partner and I were looking forward to a satisfying seafood meal. Choosing this restaurant was the beginning of a nightmare. We ordered the seafood risotto and pasta. The risotto was so hard it felt undercooked; the mussels were bland, and one was even unpleasantly fishy. The pasta was essentially just a bowl of olive oil. To make matters worse, at least six flies swarmed our table throughout the meal. I had to wave them away constantly with one hand just to eat. Despite seeing me struggle with the flies the entire time, the staff never offered any assistance or even acknowledged the issue. Perhaps it was because I am an Asian tourist? This experience completely ruined our day.

I’m a New Yorker living in the east since 1995. If you want to get the best pizza…it’s in New York. If you can’t make it to New York head down to Bondi, Gelbison’s is an institution. It’s been there as long as I have lived here and its quality has been unwavering. 5 stars for food because their pizza is amazing (not NY thin crust style) 5 stars for atmosphere as the place is always buzzing with excitement and eating outside gives you that view of Bondi Beach. 5 stars for service as they hire friendly helpful staff that make the experience fun.

I had a wonderful experience at Gelbison. The service was amazing and the attention was outstanding. Barbara was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great service, lovely atmosphere, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Gelbison Italian Restaurant was recommended by a good friend of mine. We had an amazing night. This dinner out was the highlight of our Qantas Crew trip to Sydney. Great family run business. Lovely and friendly atmosphere. Leon and his team made us feel welcome and at home. Food was authentic Italian, full of flavour, homemade. None of the dishes disappointed us, big portions. We had really good wines and desserts were to die for.
