The seafood dishes were good, so was the garlic pizza. Not so great for vegetarian pastas. Ordered the vodka, chilli pasta in nepoletana sauce. Not great. Pasta was doused in sauce, no flavour. Very acidic. Pub food quality. The pumpkin, ricotta pasta wasn't great. They overcharged us for the wine.brought the wrong wine, replaced it and charged us for both. Hope they refund us. Expect more in terms of flavour for such an expensive restaurant. Service was great.
Had such a wonderful time celebrating my husband’s birthday lunch here! The staff were all so warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. It’s such a lovely spot for celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a casual Italian meal. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone who loves Italian food! P.S. The food looked so good that I started eating before I remembered to take photos!
We had a wonderful experience at Matteo Double Bay, we were celebrating a 50th birthday. The service was exceptional — everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and attentive with both our food and drinks throughout the whole visit. Saci and his team were amazing and made us feel so well looked after. We will definitely be back again and highly recommend the bottomless brunch. Such a fantastic experience!
I had high expectations for this place but it feel short. Granted it was Mother’s Day but the food lacked flavour and the service left a lot to be desired. The best dish out of everything was the lamb. Everything else was mediocre that I could potentially get better at a pub. Service was lackluster as our server left shift and we had to keep flagging down other servers to why our food was taking so long. Same thing with the bill when we went to pay it took over 10 minutes just to get someone to bring us our bill and pay.
Great vibe in this area of Double Bay. As with all weekends, the restaurants are all full and it is very busy. Service was great throughout and the food was delicious as expected. We got the burrata and scallops to start. We then got the ragoût and the vodka pasta for mains. We had a bottle of wine to share. We also got the broccolini and Tiramisu. Will definitely come back!
