Such a wonderful addition to South Hurstville! Hato is a beautiful, clean spot with nice decor, a cozy atmosphere, and very friendly staff. The food is outstanding, the ramen had a rich, comforting broth, and the pork katsu don was perfectly cooked. We also loved the takoyaki and the super fresh sushi. Their service is truly exceptional, we called ahead to mention we were bringing a baby, and they thoughtfully had a high chair set up and offered baby utensils, waiting for us the moment we walked in. Great food, lovely service, and welcoming.

Such a clean and welcoming environment, and the chicken don was absolutely delicious. You can immediately tell that the owner puts a lot of care and passion into running the restaurant. It’s been such a long time since South Hurstville had a restaurant this good. During these tough economic times, I really hope everyone can come and support local businesses! I’ll definitely be coming back often!

The sushi was excellent and very fresh. We also got katsu curry and ramen which was good and satisfying. However I was disappointed with the agadashi tofu which was re-fried tofu puffs and just hard and dry (never had it this style, usually the tofu inside is soft). Also got the baked chicken which seemed burnt and was dry inside. Overall pleasant enough and the staff were friendly.

Such a great addition to the area! There hasn’t been a good Japanese restaurant nearby, so this is exactly what we needed. The food was incredibly flavourful, the service was lovely, and my family and I had such a great experience. Highly recommend!
