Was really impressed with the quality of food at this newish Japanese spot at Sydney Fish Market. They’re serving up a proper seafood feast in a relaxed yet elevated setting - the space itself is a vibe, with a great mix of cosy indoor seating door seating and outdoor tables overlooking the city. Also loved how clean and well-kept everything was (and no seagulls swooping in to attack my food!) The highlights for me were the tempura fish & aonori chips - perfectly fried, light and crispy, yet you can still taste how fresh the fish is. The lobster pasta was another standout - rich, fresh and packed with flavour. And the seafood chowder was warm, comforting and just perfect for these cold days. Overall, this spot delivers high-quality ingredients at reasonable prices, making it a great place for a satisfying seafood feast in a relaxed setting. Special shoutout to Johnny for the great service - highly recommend checking this place out!
We visited Ichie for our weekend dinner on a Friday night. Surprisingly it wasn’t too busy and we were still able to find a table easily. We sat inside, so we didn’t get to try the BBQ area outside. The menu photos looked very appealing, so we ended up ordering quite a few dishes. The food was presented nicely and the seafood quality was good, which is expected since the restaurant is located inside the Fish Market. The seafood dishes were definitely fresh. However, overall the flavours were just okay and not really to our personal taste. Everything looked great, but the taste didn’t quite stand out for us. Not sure if we would come back, but it was still an interesting experience trying a restaurant inside the Fish Market.
Although the menu has recently changed, the team kindly worked with us to replicate some of favourite dishes from before. The results were outstanding – fresh, flavourful, and beautifully prepared. Excellent service and attention to detail. A great dining experience.
Had a great dinner at Ichie at the new Fish market. First time dining at the new Fish market and the atmosphere was really good - lots of people lining up outside for takeaway. It felt so comfortable to have a proper table inside instead of lining up for takeaway, especially on a busy Saturday night. We ordered many dishes and all came out quickly. The service was great. They were vey helpful and friendly. There are fireworks around 8:30 pm every Saturday, which makes it a really option for a friend’s catch up , especially if you missed the New Year fireworks in the city. Will come back again!
We had dinner at Ichie today and were very impressed with the overall experience. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. You can really tell that great care goes into both the ingredients and preparation. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Everything was served at a good pace, and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended — we will definitely be coming back!
