A good little spot on the Corso. Reasonably priced Japanese, serving up usual Japanese staples like ramen, udon, rice bowls and bento boxes. The tempura udon was nice, though it would've been nice to have it served with tempura dipping sauce. Overall, a decent Japanese option in the area. Good Japanese beer options available too, beyond the typical Asahi or Orion. Service was ok, though it would've been better to be served the bill at the end, not while the food was being served. It's strange for a restaurant to do this.
First time visiting Manly, and after walking around the beach and the wharf, I was craving something hearty. Stumbled upon this spot and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry along with a cold can of Oi Ocha green tea. As someone who appreciates a good Japanese curry, this was spot on—the katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the curry sauce had that rich, comforting flavor you look for.
Never gets old. Been going here since it opened in 1993. Might take a minute to get a table. Not great for Giant groups. No easy access inside restaurant for those with mobility issues. Very noisy, might be overwhelming for those with sensory issues. However, there are tables in the corridor and out the back. Food is spectacular. Always has been. Katsudon and gyoza. Perfect. Manly must see.
Jipang is hands down the best restaurant in Manly. The chicken katsudon, teriyaki salmon, and pork fried rice were all amazing full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended. I come back here whenever I come to Sydney.
Jipang is a solid spot for comforting Japanese food. The chicken katsudon was hearty and satisfying, with a crispy crumb soaked perfectly in savoury sauce and soft egg over rice. The chicken karaage don had juicy, well-seasoned chicken with a nice crunch, balanced by fresh greens and sauce. We also loved the veggie tempura — light, crisp, and not oily, letting the vegetables shine. Overall, generous portions, comforting flavours, and a great choice when you’re craving classic Japanese donburi.
