We visited Nobu Sydney for their Winter Truffle Omakase menu. We thought their Miso Honey Cale with Truffle Ice Cream was amazing! The New Caledonia Paradise Prawns was fresh and sweet. It paired perfectly with the toro tuna. All dishes tasted well and the truffle servings were generous. The price was great value for a Nobu restaurant. Service was attentive and professional. We enjoyed our evening at Nobu Sydney and will come back again to try the other items on the menu.
We got the signature omakase course and it was quite decent. Overall leaning on the salty side for some of the dishes and overall quite mild flavours. There was a little bit of spice with the tempura and steak sauce which was a nice addition. Overall my favourite was the entree which was a nice kingfish with Yuzu and soy hints. Otherwise the food was pretty decent for Japanese cuisine and not out of the ordinary. I've rated down on the service because it was one of the only fine dining places I've been to where the waiters didn't top up our water for us after the first 30mins, so for the last 2 hours I was quite thirsty. I swapped the cappuccino dessert for a sorbet and they only offered vannola ice cream which tasted like the most average vanilla ice cream from Woolies. Don't think this was great for the price which was about $180 per head for the meal.
Solo staycay Crown Sydney. Checked in early, but my room wasn’t ready, so I had time to kill, decided to treat myself here. Wanted something quiet, no noise, just me, my thoughts, and some good food. Sat at the bar (a bit awkward at first), but everyone was in their own world, so it ended up being really relaxing. Loved the ambience and service, super friendly staff. Walked in casually (no booking), just mentioned I was staying at the Crown and was happy to sit at the bar. Started with the Matcha Sawa cocktail, super refreshing, though I wish it had a stronger matcha kick. The Seafood Ceviche and Yellowtail Sashimi were my favourite, fresh & perfect combo with the cocktail. Zucchini Tempura was light and crispy Least fave? The Creamy Spicy Crab — a bit salty for my taste, but overall, such a lovely meal. Total: $137 Would definitely come back again — the vibe, the food, the peace On the table: Acqua Panna | Matcha Sawa | Yellowtail Sashimi ×2 | Seafood Ceviche | Zucchini Tempura | Creamy Spicy Crab
Came her for lunch today for my friends birthday. My friends and I had alot of baggage and stuff were so helpful in storing all our bags until the end. They were very accomodating(especially with my friends allergies) and always checking in. Food was sooo good- especially the salmon tacos which our waiter helped us select. Defo recommend!
Nobu 🍣 Please note this review is for the lunch buffet and may not reflect the regular menu. At 108pp, it’s quite a good deal if you are a fish and oyster lover. Heard its going away but hopefully they bring it back sometime. Looking forward to returning. Notable things I ate: Tuna (nigiri) - fish quality was superb, so tender and not stringy at all. Salmon sashimi - tender, very popular at the buffet, not much to say about this one. Jalopeno yellowtail - tender, good touch of mild spice, well seasoned, probably my favourite sashimi that I ate. Oysters with Nobu sauces - shucked, creamy, not fishy, refreshing - goes great with any of their vinegarettes (maui, ponzu, can’t remember the other one but it was the best in my opinion). Tiger prawn tempura with creamy spicy sauce - This slapped hard. Not too spicy, large chunky tender prawn pieces, well battered and mixed in with a creamy sauce. What more can we ask for. Black miso cod butter lettuce - as always, Nobu delivers with their signature miso cod. A savoury but not salty, slightly sweet, crumbly but moist piece of cod, glazed and buttery, in pieces of lettuce. Perfect bite sized pieces in this variant of the dish. They added bits of kataifi to give texture which was a great idea. Chicken skewers - when I heard chicken skewer I wasn’t expecting too much but it was actually enjoyable and quite delicious. Good quality chicken meat, without fatty, stringy, or cartilaginous bits, cooked well, not overdone or dry, in a savoury/sweet teriyaki like sauce. Very good. Didn’t see it on their regular menu but I am impressed. Desserts: Nobu cheesecake with blackberry - rich, creamy and not overly sweet cheese, loved it Yuzu tart - tasted a bit like a lemon tart but I really liked this as well. Cute little bite sized circles. Atop was marshmallow lightly toasted and melted but might’ve been meringue; in any case it was good. Matcha brownie - basically a brownie but matcha instead of chocolate. Fantastic taste, not overly sweet or heavy and it was dense - thats a sign of a good brownie to me. Service was attentive (kept my water glass full at all times) and friendly as you would expect of such an establishment. The toilets were clean, soap and paper well stocked.
