I discovered this place by chance while visiting the Vivid Sydney tunnels and had been wanting to try it ever since. I finally came last Sunday and it was well worth the wait. The female chef was incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome. She prepared our sushi and every dish was fresh and beautifully made. Everything tasted amazing. I always believe you can judge a restaurant by its restroom and this one was absolutely first class. It was immaculate and showed just how much attention they pay to every detail. I’ll definitely be back.
We visited Sake Sydney to celebrate my partner's birthday The Good Stuff: The atmosphere is top-notch—super chic and the AC is cranking (maybe a bit too hard, but more on that later). The staff were absolute legends: attentive, lightning-fast, and very professional. For starters, the seafood appetizers were divine—fresh, vibrant, and exactly what you’d expect. The sushi (Tuna and Soft Shell Crab) was also a winner. We also tried the Popcorn Shrimp - the prawns were fresh and the portion was massive. Pro tip: Don’t order this for two people unless you want to become 50% mayonnaise by the end of the night. It’s definitely a dish for a group of three or more. The "Wait, What?" Moments: Because the AC was freezing, our server kindly suggested some Miso Soup. Big mistake. Huge. It was an absolute salt bomb. I’m convinced the chef accidentally dropped a whole kilo of salt into the pot. For $10 AUD a bowl, I expected a masterpiece; instead, I got a bowl of liquid brine with two lonely cubes of tofu. My blood pressure is still recovering. Then came the Mixed Tempura. While the veggies were fine, the prawns were a massive letdown. They were tough and lacked any natural sweetness—honestly, I’ve had better textures from a rubber band. The Finish: The Matcha dessert was... fine? It was edible but about as memorable as a Tuesday afternoon. On a bright note, they did provide a complimentary mini birthday cake, which was a very sweet gesture. Verdict: Total bill: $258 AUD. For that price, I expected to be blown away, but I left feeling a bit salty (literally). The food quality just doesn't justify the price tag. Great for a drink and the vibe, but I won’t be rushing back for dinner.
Stunning fit out, lovely vibe, fantastic and entertaining service by James and incredible food and drinks. We ordered everything from the cold enteees, half the hot entrees, a couple mains and all desserts. Delicious and one of my new favourites in Sydney!
Delicious food, especially if you like Japanese. Sashimi was perfectly cut and super fresh. Cold starters are a must - beef tartare was the best. Drinks are surprisingly good! I had the moscato and my husband had the Yuzu highball. I can’t remember the last place I went to which had such quality drinks. We ordered 2 starters, 2 sushi rolls, the sashimi combo and tempura and were too full, one less dish would’ve been perfect!
Exceptional food and service. Special mention to Gwen our waitress for her excellent service. Thank you Sake for making our 25th Wedding dinner a memorable one, we will definitely return.Jaime & Racquel
