What an absolute gem. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant tucked down a little alleyway off one of the main strips in North Sydney, easy to miss but well worth seeking out. Everything about the experience was excellent. The staff were extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful, taking the time to answer all of our questions about the different menu items and offering genuine recommendations. We ordered a real spread including edamame, crab, okonomiyaki, chicken katsu curry and a wagyu beef soba and every single dish was sensational. Beautifully prepared and full of flavour. For the quality and quantity of food we received, we thought it was quite reasonably priced. If you are after authentic, high quality Japanese food in a cosy hole in the wall setting in North Sydney, this place is an absolute must try.

My wife and I returned here for dinner on Saturday night. Great to have live jazz, as an accompaniment to the great food. We chose to share some sensational fried crab cream croquettes ($12) and a delicious, hot, 300ml bottle of Uonuma Sake ($37), then my wife chose the 9 piece Sashimi Set ($35) which she truly enjoyed. I chose the Chicken Karaage Curry Rice ($26) which is served with fresh salad. I loved the traditional Japanese serving with the succulent chicken, potato and carrot pieces, the soft white rice and the delicious curry. Though we had not booked a table, we walked straight in around 6.30 pm and got a table for 1 hour, which was enough time to enjoy the meal. Staff are warm and friendly and service is excellent. Ambiance is a treat in such a small space, reminiscent of traditional, small, Japanese eating establishments in Japan. To be sure of a table, it is advisable to book. I understand that live music is only on weekends. A meal here is highly recommended.

Sooooo good. What a hidden gem. If I lived nearby this would become my go-to spot, very cute place to catch up with friends or for a date night. It’s giving small European bar vibes, and the food was so yummy. Would love to come back to try other dishes.

This place has a charming Japanese countryside vibe—small and intimate, which makes it feel warm and perfect for winter. We tried the red miso don, which was delicious, though the rice was a bit oversauced. The Menchi curry is a must-order!

A cute intimate Japanese restaurant tucked away in North Sydney, close to the metro station. Went here around 8pm on a Monday night and it was quite filled (mainly because of the small capacity) but they still had 1 or 2 tables available. Vibes were peak with chill music playing. We wanted the pork loin katsu but they had run out of all pork katsus so we got the tempura rice set and wagyu rice set - pretty good food, prices are on the higher side but portions were fairly generous so not much to complain about. Would come here again to try more of the menu!
