I dined here recently and had a very disappointing experience. First, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional and not helpful when assistance was needed. Second, the food quality was poor — the grilled items did not seem fresh and the taste was off. After the meal, I experienced stomach pain, which raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. I hope the restaurant reviews its ingredient storage and staff training to prevent this from happening to other customers. Please take this feedback seriously.
On a weekend trip to Sydney we had time to kill so took train out to Chatswood. There are many restaurants right at the train station. Glad we chose Myung Jang as food and service was superb ❤️. We highly recommend it. If you're in Sydney its worth the trip out there. Only 25mins from Sydney Central to Chatswood
Delicious Korean BBQ cuisine. Came for a weekday lunch and it didn't disappoint. The ban chan was excellent and generous (constant topups). We had the bulgogi pork with lettuce wrap and beef bone soup. Went really well together. Service is friendly and attentive and there is plenty of seating. 5% discount if you pay by cash. View of the Chatswood trains below. Will def come back!
We dined here on a Sunday not knowing they charge 10% surcharge on Sunday's. A star has been taken away due to the establishments sneaky ways of operation. There is no clear sign displaying a 10% surcharge on Sunday's at the entry doorway, you only find out at the end of your meal when you go to pay at the register. The display menu at the front also doesn't tell you how much the food items are, you'll have to go inside, sit down and scan the QR code to know the price, by that time it's too late or embarrassing if you want to leave. The korean side dishes were also very underwhelming, and limited. We ordered the $269 set menu which came with everything you see in the photos to share between 4 people. They gave two dipping sauces to share between the 4 people, which I found quite stingy. The meat is high quality, but you are paying for it. The pancake was really crispy and delicious, other than that it was everything you would expect at a Korean restaurant. The customer service was average and not attentive. Overall our bill totalled $300 inclusive of 10% surcharge and take away containers.
Stopped off on the metro for a late lunch after a day of exploring and really enjoyed our meal at Myung Jang. The seasoned fried chicken was generously portioned (lots of leftovers), super crisp, and full of flavour. Served with kimchi and rice, it was a well-balanced, satisfying dish. They also gave us two complimentary sides to try — the butter-fried potatoes were fantastic, and the fresh lettuce with sauce really cut through the richness of the chicken. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant overlooks the trains coming into the station, which adds a nice touch. We were in and out within an hour — would definitely come back!
