Good for its price, stick to the chicken (I think) Summary: Ordered the Tteokbokki from its relatively cheap menu, and found it lacklustre. Store had personality, was clean, although empty at the time. Staff were friendly. Solid 2.5/5 - I'm ambivalent towards returning, perhaps I will try the fried chicken if I ever decide to return. Long review with context: I have this terrible habit of wishing to try ethnic food at new places instead of sticking to the tried and true path. My time at Chi Koko would be on par for the course, although perhaps I should try their chicken (which I haven't tried, but I imagine is universally one of the better things to order out - easy to make, hard to mess up, and too annoying to do at home). This was my philosophy with ordering the Tteokbokki, with extra cheese. Admittedly I'm not very spice accustomed, but aside from those of us who like hotness as a compliment rather than only profile in our meals - the Tteokbokki had the sweetness, but lacked the depth of savouryness in good Korean dishes (Think of your typical kim-chi). The questionable: - The dumplings were small and dry. Not a lot of taste to them. - Fish cake (?) seemed a bit generic. But maybe I'm hoping for too much for the price. - Cheese felt like coles shredded cheese. Might have been the culprit for masking the savoury-ness of the Tteokbokki, felt a bit greasy and 'cheap' and 'pizza-like'. Another cheese profile might have suited it better. The good: - Garaetteok was chewy - Base was spicy My review might be unecessarily harsh for a dish that cost me 22$ with 3$ for cheese, but as I'm not from the area, and there are some real gems in Sydney both for budget and price - I can't say there is much at the moment that would keep this place in my mind or as a must to return to.

Oh. My. Word. The chicken and food is absolutely fresh!!! They even say "At Chi Koko, we do it all ourselves - Chicken is cooked in-house and fresh chicken is cooked." The KFC CHICKEN here is unbeatable! Service is also friendly and a bit of a wait (due to cooking process), but absolutely a wait and the price is good also. Would recommend. Worth a visit. 5/5. #HonestReviews

Delicious fried chicken, but the portion is small. We ordered spicy fried chicken and spicy pork belly tofu soup, both are really spicy. We drank a lot of water while eating. Will have 5% off if paying cash. The shop plays Korean songs so is bit noisy. Will come again to try for other flavors.

2/ 2025 - during our most recent visit, the food didn't taste as good as before. 2024 Chikoko rises from a humble family establishment to a well-known local eatery for Korean fried chicken. Chikoko is famous for crunchy chicken skin and juicy meat, and is a perfect combination with pickled radish and soju. The order takes time, but it is worth the wait. Besides fried chicken, you can enjoy jumeokbap (seaweed rice balls), ramen with Tteokbokki (rice cake), bibimbap (rice bowl), etc.

Ordered bibimbap thru QR code and we forgot to request to cook the eggs well done (cause my wife isn't allowed to eat raw/partially-cooked) Tried to ask the staff if they can fry it again and got declined. Food was great but being inconsiderate with it's customer leaves a bad taste.
