Very disappointing experience – misleading menu and poor allergy handling We dined here on Saturday 14 February 2026 and unfortunately had a very concerning experience regarding food allergies and menu transparency. One of the dishes we ordered was the “Spicy Black Bean Noodles (Pork)”. A member of our group specifically chose this dish because he has a prawn allergy and there was no mention of seafood or prawns in the English description. When the dish arrived, it was full of prawns. We immediately checked with one of the waitresses, who told us that the dish does contain prawns and pointed to Korean wording on the menu, explaining that it translates to “seafood.” As non-Korean speakers, we had absolutely no way of knowing this. The English menu description does not mention seafood at all, and the photo of the dish does not clearly show prawns unless you zoom in very closely. It is simply not obvious. We explained that someone at our table has a prawn allergy and asked whether the dish could be remade without prawns. The waitress went to check with the kitchen and came back to tell us that the chef REFUSED to remake it. This was extremely disappointing and honestly concerning. Food allergies are serious. In Australia, where English is the main language, customers should not be expected to read or understand Korean text to identify allergens. Clear allergen information in English is the restaurant’s responsibility. What made the situation worse was the refusal to correct the dish, even after explaining it was due to an allergy. There was no attempt to accommodate or resolve the issue beyond saying no. We left feeling frustrated and uneasy. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both their menu clarity and how allergy concerns are handled in future.
Tried Wood Bowl for the first time, and while the experience was decent, some dishes fell a bit short of expectations. The fried rice and black bean noodles had potential but were quite underseasoned, leaving them a little underwhelming in flavour. The fried chicken was on the drier side, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the highlight of the night was definitely the sweet and sour pork—crispy, well-balanced, and packed with flavour. It was easily the best dish we tried. The atmosphere was nice, and the presentation of the dishes was great. With a bit more seasoning and attention to texture, this place could be amazing. Would be open to giving it another try!
i ate here when it was fairly empty, and i was greeted with not the same respect as everybody else, and i realized it was 100% racially motivated. the staff treated everybody else with respect and decency, and i didnt get a response half the time when i said thank you, or was ordering (which was very polite). she ran off when taking our order, giving it to us, and accepting pay without saying a word I understand this is a bold claim but i noticed a serious pattern of discrimination and I will not be coming back here. i’m very disappointed that this behaviour is tolerated against non koreans, as if we dont live in australia. And I do not recommend anybody to come here x
My first time here, this is the 3rd shop under the Ham Ji Park (咸之朴) banner. First impression is quiet, spacious and warm. I particularly like the Korean and Chinese fusion food. Ordered four dishes and we are impressed by the signature dish, black bean sauce noodles.
Excellent Korean restaurant in Lidcombe. Food is excellent. Service is quick. I ate here on Sunday and there is NO weekend surcharge. I paid by cash to avoid credit card surcharge.
