★★★★★ The vegetarian Indomie Goreng at Ho Jiak Strathfield was really tasty and very well made. The noodles had plenty of flavour, the vegetables were cooked nicely, and everything came together without feeling too oily or heavy. I couldn’t remember the name of the dish at first, but it was definitely the Indomie Goreng and I’m glad I tried it. It had that comforting Malaysian street-food taste and was a great vegetarian option. The service was also quick and efficient, even though the place was busy. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and had a smooth experience. I’d happily come back to try more of their vegetarian dishes.
The OG Ho Jiak in Strathfield - where it all began. Finally got a chance to review after coming here for over a decade. Still one of the best Malaysian restaurants in Sydney. Ordered the Autumn special of Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken Wings, Fish Ball soup and Teh Tarik. Great value for $25. Great tasting meal with juicy chicken wings. Fast service and convenient tables in front of the counter. Still highly recommended if you want a quick and tasty Malaysian meal.
Have been coming here with my friends, foodies and family since it started over ten years ago. A real gem. As Malaysian born I approve! Consistent flavour bombs and the staff are always friendly. Decent people and great food. Love the Hainan chicken Laksa topped with juicy deboned Hainan chicken, bean curd, thin fish puffs, fresh mint and sambal with thick egg noodle and vermicelli and topped with half egg. Everything laksa should be. And the Char Kuay Teow has enormous Wok Hei, with unique dark caramelised flat haw fun noodles with charred edges, juicy prawns, pipis and whispy fragrant ribbons of egg, topped with chives and bean sprouts. Delicious! If you like maximum wok hei, This is it. Not for people who prefer very subtle flavour profiles. But we really love all the food here.
I always order chicken hainan rice. Always yummy n chicken flavour n smell fragrant. But today rice so soft like over cooked no much taste on rice no fragrant too. Just not like normally taste i used to taste. Please bring back the yummy taste like before. Thank you
"I really enjoyed breakfast last Sunday. The food was just the right amount and tasted high-end. The staff were all so friendly, too. I’d love to go back and have that experience again."
