Dining Review: Indo Laksa, St Leonards Indo Laksa in St Leonards offers the kind of quiet, comfortable dining experience that’s getting harder to find on the North Shore. It’s a small boutique Malaysian restaurant, but it feels noticeably more relaxed than its counterparts in Chatswood. The lower population density in the area really shows: the spacing between tables is generous, the lighting is gentle rather than harsh, and the overall atmosphere is calm and unhurried. Even the customer service feels more attentive simply because the environment isn’t rushed. The pricing sits slightly below what you’d expect in Chatswood, which makes the experience feel like good value without compromising on quality. I visited around 6 pm, and the restaurant was still settling into the evening, so it wasn’t busy—perfect for a peaceful early dinner. I ordered the traditional Malaysian Bak Kut Teh for $21. The portion size was balanced—enough to satisfy without feeling heavy. The broth had a clean, moderate flavour: not overly intense, not too thick, and pleasantly drinkable. It’s the kind of dish that feels “just right” for a casual weekday meal. Ordering is flexible and convenient. You can go up to the cashier if you prefer a quick interaction, or simply scan the QR code at your table for a seamless digital experience. Overall, Indo Laksa delivers a comfortable, unpretentious Malaysian meal in a setting that’s calmer and more spacious than nearby suburbs. A solid choice for anyone who appreciates good food without the bustle.

Laksa here is legit. Tried they’re seafood laksa and crunchy wonton laksa. Tastes amazing and really good during cold weather. They also have Teh Tarik that comes in a bottle that’s a good match for the hot spicy food here. Will be trying other food on their menu.

Food is consistently good. Their stir fry noodles have good wok-hei. Their laksa is on every table around us.

Love their Laksa soup, it tasted better than Malay Chinese noodles and bigger portion. The fried rice sticks has lovely wok breath aroma, Yummy with pickled green chilli and Sambal on top.

Ordered the chicken slices laksa, came without the fried tofu puff. The Har mee prawn soup is too fishy taste not quite like the usual prawn soup I had before.
