We enjoyed the night for two birthdays recently. Fun to celebrate with entertainment. Good was good, beef Nachos loaded fries, and the mocktail pina colada was delicious and creamy. This was our 2nd time coming and with a big group last Saturday night we were able to book a table in time no issues. Staff were very helpful also by letting us bring the cake and the entertainer sang happy birthday to all birthday person's and with big Mexican hats. Thank you team for the fun night. We will be back. Reasonable prices.

We had eaten there before; the food was amazing. However we went tonight and the food had downgraded a lot. The staff however were extremely lovely and polite! We ordered the beef and chicken tacos, beef and chicken torta, and the elote. The tacos were super average and the elote was okay but the tortas were extremely bad. The tortas both came out with two slabs of cold, unmelted cheese (photos included). I asked the staff to heat it up, and they were apologetic; however when it came out the edges were warm but the inside was cold and unmelted. The chips as well were incredibly soggy and cold when they arrived with very little seasoning it was sad I couldn’t finish my food for the amount we paid. Sad to see a place we used to enjoy coming to turn into this.

We left the restaurant disappointed! We are a party of 3 and these are what we ordered and how long it took for the food to be served: Sangria mocktail jug - 15mins Jalapeno poppers - 35mins Dip trio - 40mins Pork ribs - 60mins Loaded burrito - 65mins Guests next to our table arrived after us, but got their food before us! 🫩 Apart from the food taking forever, the taste lacks mexican flair too! Me and family were excited to savour the vibrant spices of mexican cuisine but it just tasted bland, flatter than a punctured tire on a motorway! We took the leftovers home, hoping atleast one member of the family would be happy with it - the dog. That is, if our dog decides to eat it too! Things to improve on: * taste * service efficiency * management Paid $152 for everything - not worth it. * the restaurant's not even full at 855pm on 28/2/2026

If I could leave a zero star review I would. Why? Because we had a Sunday lunch booking for a table of 10, where we drove nearly 3hrs from Bathurst where we live to Penrith for my husband's birthday, only to discover the place closed & shuttered up. Again, we didnt make a 6hr round trip drive through Sunday traffic via a detour to cross a closed mountain highway on a whim either- I'd booked the table a week prior & had received multiple confirmation/follow-up texts & emails regarding that booking. All the signage on the building at the address matched. 'Open Sundays from 12pm!' Wrong. Contact phone numbers on website, booking confirmations & door that all differed from each other? Wrong. Ring the phone number on one of the signs to be told 'yeah I USED to work there but that was 6 months ago, I dont know why my number is still on the sign'. Oh. Oh, ok, rightio... Multiple online checks for their direct website shows there is only 1 location, so its not like we went to the wrong location. Someone had posted to the restaurant's FB page just the day before saying 'come join us for a great weekend'- uhh, guys? We listened & we turned up but not a single solitary staff member for that establishment did on that day. Did someone just forget to do the rostering for that date? Or did they have such a great night on Saturday night they just figured 'eh, we'll never beat THAT night, let's just call it quits right now & leave on a high note'? Thankfully we were able to get a table at a Mexican food place in Penrith called Checho's & we had a fantastic time. So, my recommendation? If youre looking for great Mexican food in Penrith, look for Checho's which is just a bit further down the road than El Gringos Locos cos they sure as hell aren't it.
