I recently tried Vecino and honestly, I feel it’s quite overrated. It’s marketed as Mexican–Korean fusion, but I couldn’t really taste either. Just adding a small amount of kimchi doesn’t automatically make a dish taste Korean fusion and in this case, the flavours didn’t come through at all. I ordered the Kimchi Bulgogi Fries, described as seasoned fries loaded with bulgogi beef, sautéed kimchi, mixed cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and gochujang aioli. What I received had chopped tomato instead of pico de gallo, and instead of gochujang aioli, it tasted more like honey mustard. The portion of beef on the fries was also very small, so it didn’t feel “loaded” as advertised. I also ordered the Smoked Bulgogi Beef Tacos, but there was no noticeable smoked flavour. It was served more like overcooked marinated minced beef rather than smoked beef. Again, it came with chopped tomato instead of pico de gallo and only a small amount of guacamole. Overall, the food didn’t match the menu description, and the fusion concept just didn’t translate in flavour. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype.
So good! Had the $75 bottomless option. Only 1 server also doing drinks but she was all over it and was at our table before we even thought to call out 😁 Prawn and pork tacos, spicy and frozen margs were the best
The Mog Champ sends his regards. Korean Mexican seems like an interesting mix, saw more of the Korean in their chicken tenders which was amazing. Definitely enjoyed their pork taco the most, it has a spicy kick to it which I haven't had before in tacos! Ordered enough to share between the four of us. The margaritas were an interesting drink, never seen a bottle dunk upside down into a drink like a slushie. Was it worth it? Definitely, would recommend having one at the very least! The watermelon is a decent choice. Service was friendly and having the food outside was refreshing. Thanks for the dinner VECINO! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ
The bulgogi was a bit too sweet. Kimchi burrito was interesting. It was a bit like mild kimchi fried rice.
The incredibly delicious Korean Mexican fusion menu here is a must try! The prawn and bulgogi tacos in particular were phenomenal and my dishes of the night, along with their signature epic massive drinks. I also enjoyed trying flavours from their amazing range of friend chicken too. This is a perfect restaurant for a delicious feed, or if you're looking for a private group event, book their amazing upstairs party room
