We visited Aambra for lunch and had been looking forward to the experience. The venue itself is simply gorgeous. Set within a beautiful heritage style building with stained glass windows, it has a warm, elegant atmosphere that makes a wonderful first impression. The service was friendly throughout. At times it became a little inattentive, but the team were knowledgeable, helpful with recommendations and genuinely welcoming. The food was clearly prepared with care, creativity and quality ingredients. There is no question that a great deal of thought and effort goes into every dish, and the flavours themselves were enjoyable. Where the experience fell slightly short for me was in the balance of the dishes. I found many of the textures leaned towards being quite soft, and I was missing the contrast that brings a dish together. For my palate, the various components didn’t always complement one another in the way I had expected, so while everything tasted good individually, the overall experience didn’t feel as complete or as balanced as I’d hoped. That said, this is very much a personal preference rather than a criticism of the cooking. It’s evident there is real talent in the kitchen, and many people will no doubt love the style of food. For us, however, it just didn’t quite meet the high expectations we had going in. Overall, it’s a beautiful venue with warm hospitality and thoughtful cooking. While the food wasn’t quite the right fit for our tastes, I’d still recommend experiencing it for yourself, as others may appreciate the style far more than we did.

Had a really wonderful meal here. The church conversion is absolutely stunning and beautiful, with every little detail in the restaurant thought through. Our waitress was very friendly and recommended us some good dishes. Really enjoyed the food as well - in particular the bread, beef and meringue dessert. Will definitely be back!

I was pretty blown away by this new restaurant! The staff were friendly from the get-go, chatting and genuinely wanting to make our visit unforgettable. And the food was dead set delicious. I’m already looking forward to going back! The atmosphere was super intimate, making it a cosy romantic vibe :)

Our experience at Aambra was good. The atmosphere is so unique, and service was friendly throughout the night. While our entrees were phenomenal, our mains were just ok. The steak was not the most tender, and had little flavour, and the lamb was quite fatty. The desserts received mixed reviews.

What a horrible dining experience we had here… Don’t be fooled by the high Google reviews or my nice photos that I have provided. (I’m a food blogger so of course I take good pictures). The service here is disgusting. It’s clear the staff are very beginner/low service level and do not have the experience to work in a higher end restaurant. They were all extremely young and incompetent. The manager (who is male and French) was a bit better and tried to mitigate things, but it was still not good enough. We had no tap water from the beginning, and had to keep asking for it to be topped up. Our plates were not changed after every meal (we had the $129PP set menu and added on extras), so we had dirty oyster shells mixed with raw meat mixed with fish and chicken… DISGUSTING. We asked for plate changes several times but were ignored so we ended up consuming our degustation from the same plate. Like I mentioned, we had the set menu which was $129 PP plus drinks and a 10% service charge on top (for what service though?) so the total bill was $1800, and it was NOT WORTH IT at all. Finally… The “Lebanese” food is mediocre and bland. First of all it is not even Lebanese food. Maybe Lebanese inspired at best. Not authentic and very weird. The portions are small for what you pay for. We didn’t finish most of the dishes or the dessert because it was simply not enjoyable. Oh and not to mention. The staff TOLD US OFF for using flash. So please enjoy my photos (that I got told off for taking). If I didn’t have flash, then I wouldn’t have even taken these nice photos. That was the most laughable thing about this whole experience. It made my night because how can you tell customers off for taking photos? We are trying to post the BEST photos of YOUR FOOD, for you. I really wanted to like this place and give a good Google review/post nice photos but absolutely not. I would NEVER recommend coming here.
