We went for dinner and ordered the chicken shawarma and the meat platter. Both were delicious and full of flavour. The food quality was good, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were also treated to complimentary Persian tea. The restaurant had a nice, relaxed vibe with Syrian music playing in the background. It wasn’t too crowded, making the atmosphere peaceful and perfect for quality time. Overall, great food, great service, and a really pleasant dining experience.
I really dont like giving 1 star reviews. But sadly I cannot in good faith give anything more. Even the 1 star is only for the decor and vibes. The place was completely empty. Not surprising for a week night. But this is to give context. We waited a while for our food while the restaurant was literally empty. Only 1 other family was there besides us in this big space. The wait should not be so long especially in an empty restaurant. To make it worse. Every.single.item was dry and bland. All the proteins were overcooked and dry. The chicken in the shawarma. The lamb, chicken and kafta skewers. Even the lamb shank in the mansaf. Also everything lacked flavour. All of it. Truly disappointing. I have had all these same dishes in various other locations. I know how good they really are. I dont know what happened. This place has great reviews overall. Did we just have a bad day. But even then. For every item in our order to turn out bad is quite surprising. I have a feeling they genuinely forgot about our food and all of it overcooked. Explains why it took long. I cant see myself going here again. Update - The restaurant responded to me. Here is my reply. We finished the food because its not like the food was so bad it was inedible. Also we dont like to waste food. The time thing isn't a huge deal. Just felt a bit long considering the place was empty. Not a big deal either way.
Food was not bad but not super memorable. We ordered chicken shawarma and the platter of sides. Came up to almost $60 I think? Which is bit pricey for just one main. Service was not bad and the environment was nice. Thankfully we were the second customers that evening because several tables came in after us, but there was only one waitress and the food seemed to come out a lottt slower after.
Whenever I miss home, the smell of old Damascus streets, and the taste of authentic Syrian food, Alshami is where I go to find my little piece of Syria. I have been a regular customer since Alshami opened its doors more than 10 years ago. The food is always amazing, whether dining in, ordering takeaway, or catering for small occasions. The chef and staff are friendly, welcoming, and always make you feel at home. The décor takes you back to the charm of traditional Damascene homes. The little fountain in the centre, with the gentle sound of flowing water while you enjoy a delicious meal, creates an atmosphere that is hard to forget.
Beautiful Syrian food. Ordered a whole bunch of dishes and everyone was happy with everything. Finished off the meal with complimentary tea. Beautiful restaurant and fantastic customer service. Thank you 😀🙏
