Chermoula chicken was mouthwateringly delicious, packed with flavour and a kick. Jimmy's vege plate was also great; the aubergine looked a bit odd as the whole thing had been baked but tasted pretty good, almost like really soft potato. We loved the pickled beetroot, which isn't usually our favourite veg. Chips were fab. We returned twenty mins later and had turkish tea and baklava with ice-cream. We didn't really like the tea or the desert hence my 4* star rating, otherwise would've been a 5. Tea was not bold in flavour and rather bitter. The baklava and ice-cream were okay in taste, though there was a hint of rosewater, which I personally dislike. At $16 for a narrow triangular slice, we thought it was very overpriced. Service was great, one of the guys came over and suggested some items which was super helpful. Ladies who took our payments were nice and pleasant. Vibe, including decor was great, was busy and did get noisy so was a little hard to hear ourselves talk, comfy seats were appreciated and I quite liked the menu design. Would love to return and try other savoury items on the menu. Thanks for a lovely night.

Jimmy’s Falafel Paddington is an absolute vibe and one of the most unique venues I’ve been to in Sydney. The experience starts upstairs with great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a welcoming energy that immediately makes you want to settle in and stay a while. The menu delivers on both flavour and presentation, making it a fantastic spot for dinner or drinks with friends. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hidden underground bar. As soon as you head downstairs, it feels like you’ve stepped back into the 1960s. Every detail has been carefully thought out, from the vintage-inspired décor and furnishings to the accessories, lighting, and tucked-away corners that give the space so much character. There are little nooks and hideaways everywhere, making it feel intimate, intriguing, and completely different from the hustle and bustle outside. The atmosphere is warm, fun, and immersive, making it the perfect place to catch up with friends, enjoy a date night, or simply unwind over a few drinks. It’s the kind of venue where you can easily lose track of time because the setting is so engaging and unique. Whether you’re there for one drink or ten, you’re genuinely transported somewhere else. Paddington has plenty of great venues, but Jimmy’s Falafel stands out because it offers not just great food and drinks, but a memorable experience. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a venue with incredible character, fantastic ambience, and a little touch of nostalgia.

A would-be great evening with fantastic food ruined by terrible service and an obnoxious ending. With an empty restaurant and only 3 tables to be served, it seemed like the staff just wanted to get rid of us. After having our food on the table for approximately 5 minutes with wine glasses still full, we we’re asked if we wanted to pack our food in a take away box.. my plate was still clean. As the evening progressed we became the only table remaining keeping to ourselves not asking for much. We were offered to go downstairs to the new bar, which has a fantastic ambience.. again empty. The bartender advised us that we have 35 minutes till close which we acknowledged and proceed to order a wine each… he then upsold us onto a bottle which we weren’t opposed to.. but asked if we could stay a few minutes pass close. He got his manager Marc to come by - which then said “you guys are free to stay till 2:05an not 12:05am! It really made a fantastic impression so we ended up purchasing the bottle of wine.. again just us two.. empty venue. At exactly 11:58pm, the manager who was jovial upselling us a bottle, immediately became stern and demanded we leave in the next minute due to their liquor license. We were pressured to finish all of the wine, and exit immediately. We would have never order a bottle, or over stayed if the expectation was never set. What happened next has never happened in any venue, as I frequent Merivale and other establishments regularly. We were demanded to leave the EMPTY wine bottle behind, after we politely asked to take it with us to create a memory of our lovely first date. I have never in my life had a venue refuse to give me an empty bottle of wine as a keepsake for my collection. This really was appalling and disappointing because it was just unnecessary. The food was lovely, so go there for it.. but maybe take a trip to Jimmys in CBD to avoid a terrible dining experience. If anyone from the Merivale team wants to make up for this disaster, just get me that empty bottle for our keepsake. That’s all we cared about.
