Pizza was delicious and we also got cookies which were amazing. The service was great, think the guy serving was new but very efficient and the lady was also lovely. The only thing we would’ve liked would be some kind of dip! Thanks for a lovely pizza - we’ll be back!

Deep dish pizza, also known as Chicago-style pizza, hails from Chicago, Illinois, featuring a thick, deep crust in a high-sided pan. It's packed with layers of cheese, toppings, and sauce, typically in reverse order compared to traditional pizzas. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to try it in North Sydney before and it was so good. the place seem has been taken over by Parrinos, who now offer DDK pizzas alongside their own menu. It was a bit confusing with the two menus, but we decided to try something new and went for the HICKORY CHICKEN pizza. While the pizza was good, it didn't quite match the traditional Chicago style. The cheese was a bit bland for my taste, but the honey dip for the crust was enjoyable. However, the buffalo wings were disappointing, as they were full-sized wings rather than the smaller cocktail wings I was expecting. Overall, the experience was decent, but I believe the Chicago-style would be more popular and even better in its hometown than here in Australia.

We are on a quest to find the best, most tastiest pizza in all of NSW, Australia and this store is … regrettably, not yet the sovereign of that crown. Before one can meaningfully assess a pizza establishment, one must begin with the three elemental pillars by which all truly distinguished pizzas live or perish. The dough, the sauce, and the cheese. Search any culinary literature, professional pizza discourse, or the observations of serious pizza craftsmen, and these three fundamentals are invariably the benchmark. Upon arrival at Deep Dish Kings, Miranda, our first impression was one of genuine optimism. The premises were busy, the counter animated, pizzas being boxed at pace, and customers steadily moving through. At first glance, one could be forgiven for believing this may well be a hidden titan. Yet commercial busyness, while encouraging, is not in itself probative of exceptional flavour. Firstly, the dough … We specifically asked whether the base could be made thicker and were told that the bases cannot be altered. We were instead advised that a stuffed crust could be added, but that there is effectively only one standard thickness. That is, with respect, a curious proposition for a store trading under the emphatic title of “Deep Dish Kings.” Yes, they do offer a Chicago-style range, and yes, their menu publicly reflects a separate deep dish category, but the ordinary bases felt conspicuously uniform and industrial rather than artisan or freshly hand-developed in-store. A truly commendable pizza base should exhibit character. A slight tang, structural integrity, some chew, and, where appropriate, a measured crispness. It should taste as though it has undergone a proper fermentation process and been treated as a culinary foundation rather than a mere edible platform. Here, the base lacked distinction. It was neither memorably crisp nor satisfyingly chewy, and consequently gave the unmistakable impression of mass production rather than craft. Secondly, the sauce … Pizza sauce ought to not present as a watery afterthought. It should possess savoury concentration, aromatic garlic, herbaceous depth, and enough body to assert itself without drowning the base. What we encountered, however, was a notably underwhelming tomato layer. Once the cheese was lifted back, the visual beneath was disappointingly soggy, with thin streaks of tomato residue rather than a rich, confident sauce bed. The overall impression was of dilution or economy, not flavour architecture. There was no real “wow” moment, and that is a considerable deficiency when sauce is one of pizza’s principal instruments. Thirdly, the cheese … Good mozzarella should impart a milky, creamy, almost voluptuous quality that binds the sauce and dough into one harmonious composition. Here, the cheese application felt sparse and commercially restrained. It lacked that indulgent, luscious melt one expects from a memorable pizza and instead conveyed the impression of a lower-tier product selected more for cost-efficiency than flavour or mouthfeel. To be fair, this establishment does not overtly posture as a white-tablecloth, premium gastronomic institution. It presents more as a busy suburban takeaway operation, and plainly, the locals keep it well supported, which, from the proprietor’s perspective, is undoubtedly a positive. But if one is judging not merely convenience, volume, or familiarity, but true pizza excellence, then there remains much that could be refined. Deep Dish Kings is not a catastrophic pizza experience. It is simply a profoundly unfinished one. A venue with energy, patronage, and potential, yet one which, at least on our visit, did not deliver the flavour sophistication required to enter the upper echelon of New South Wales best pizza. For those on a serious quest for the best, this one remains a contender in name more than in taste.

This review is just for the “Chicago styled pizzas”. I was really hoping that the deep dish pizza here would be like it is in Chicago … If you’ve lived in Chicago, you would realise this not really like real deep dish pizza “pie” you get there. Got the bears pizza. Generous with the Ingredients. Crust was a bit bland. It was very tasty and a good pizza for Australian standards, so would recommend it for a good pizza in the area. But it unfortunately lacks the deep thickness and ridiculous layers of cheese and rich tomato sauce that say a true giordianos deep dish pizza would have. On the plus side you aren’t waiting 35+ minutes for a Chicago deep dish to cook for you either, because these pizzas aren’t that thick.

Best pizza I’ve ever had. Got the Chicago and it was so yum. Crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, had just enough toppings where it was generous but all held together. The Banoffee pie was delicious, too! Delivery was also fast and friendly.
