The food is outstanding! Portion sizes are generous, and the quality is top notch. The staff at the bar are friendly and the service was great. The restaurant only accepts cash, but there’s an ATM onsite. EFTPOS is available at the bar. Definitely worth a visit!
Cambridge Tavern at Fairfield (Ibis Capital) is easily one of the best value pubs I’ve been to. I ordered the lamb meal and was seriously impressed — three large lamb chops, a generous serving of chips, a big fresh salad, and a soup bowl full of sauce, all for just $24. On top of that, their happy hour runs from 12pm to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with $6 schooners on tap. You honestly can’t beat that. Great food, great prices, and excellent value all around. Highly recommend giving it a try — you won’t regret it.
Had lunch today, not very good. No menus, only one sticky taped to the counter where everyone orders, couldn't order any noodle dish because they didn't have any. Ordered chicken Parm and crispy chicken with garlic rice. They both had no flavour, really not enjoyable. Portions are big but you don't want to eat it. The garlic bread is 2 slices of a regular bread loaf, only toasted on one side, with barely any butter or garlic. Very disappointing. Hot chips were really good, so that was one saving grace. No Canadian Club or cider of any kind, sparkling wine was flat and they only have coke, no diet or zero either. Overall very disappointing for food and at the bar. Maybe other dishes are better.... Cannot recommend and won't go back.
Good place to eat and have a beer. Friendly service. Vip lounge was interesting with the water feature, cute bar staff.
I am writing to make a very serious complaint regarding Sam, who works security at the pub. His behaviour towards customers has been consistently aggressive, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional for a long time. Sam regularly speaks to patrons in a rude and disrespectful manner, with an aggressive attitude and inappropriate language. The way he talks to customers is unacceptable and makes people feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, and unwelcome. Instead of calming situations down, he often creates more tension and acts as though he is looking for conflict. He also interferes in situations that have nothing to do with him and behaves as if he owns the venue. On top of that, he openly talks badly about other staff members in front of customers, which is extremely unprofessional and creates a toxic atmosphere inside the pub. What is especially concerning is that Sam asks customers for money and tips while working security. This is highly inappropriate, unprofessional, and should never happen in a properly managed venue. Many regular customers are frustrated by the way he behaves and the negative environment he creates. Security staff are supposed to protect customers, behave professionally, and help maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, Sam’s conduct does the complete opposite. Management should seriously investigate these ongoing complaints and take proper action before more customers decide to stop attending the venue because of his behaviour.
